Tapestry by Carole King
Aug 14 2026

Musically talented, lovely voice, some big, famous and timeless hits, though not my favourite album ever it is a very likeable and instantly recognisable record

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Aug 17 2026

This is a muddled album. Lindsey Buckingham is a technically gifted musician. Unfortunately technically gifted doesn't necessarily make it a great listen. His voice is too soft and I found it boring. There was nothing I found distinct or memorable that stood out to me. It's not clear where you should tune in and out. Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie are slightly better as they are more listenable, I didn't mind their sections. Overall, it was an exceptional budget but it's not an exceptional album.

Aug 18 2026

There are some decent beats and melodies. The big hits are genuinely good. Stan is excellent storytelling. The Real Slim Shady is a great hit. Other than that it didn't resonate. The shock value and the provocation has a specific age of peak appeal; I'm no longer in that demographic

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 19 2026

I like Creedence Clearwater Revival but this felt a bit like a non-event if I'm honest. Not offensive but nothing stood out massively either.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 20 2026

This is okay background music. I can only see the Deluxe version, which is 1 hours and 19 minutes long. At that length it must command your attention but it didn't mine. I found the funk energy a little boring after a bit. It's okay though.

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
Aug 21 2026

The Blue Nile are great. This album sounds like walking in a quiet city, under the streetlights, at 3am in the morning. It's atmospheric, but not too cold or ambient. The melody of the synth/instrumentation is superb. This stood out immediately on the first track. Good album in my opinion.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Aug 24 2026

I can understand why people wouldn't like this. There is a fair amount of padding. There's a number of excellent hits here though e.g. The Drugs Don't Work, which is the obvious selection but which together make it more than worthwhile. Plus the padding is a trippy, groovy, indie daydream. I really like it.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Aug 25 2026

I didn't rate it, it's too relaxed and polite
