2/5
War felt very laid-back throughout, and most of the instrumentals didn’t do much for me. A lot of them also felt like they didn’t match Bono’s vocals, which made the songs feel disconnected. Lyrically, the album didn’t feel very deep to me either, and there wasn’t much that stuck with me afterward.
“New Year’s Day” was easily the highlight and the only song I really liked. The rest wasn’t necessarily bad, just not very interesting or memorable to me.
Most of the songs on Moving Pictures just sounded average to me. Nothing was necessarily bad, but there wasn’t much that stood out or made me want to come back to it. “Tom Sawyer” and “YYZ” were the exceptions, and I could see myself playing those again. Outside of those two, the album didn’t really do much for me.
The beats were probably the best part of the album. Most of the tracks had parts I liked, mixed with other parts that were interesting but I wouldn’t necessarily call good or bad. The two voices together just didn’t really work for me, especially with the lyrics, and that made it hard to fully get into any of the songs. Nothing I’d really go back and replay, even though the production had some good moments.
I really couldn’t get into this album. “Lilac Wine” and “Either Way I Lose” were the only two songs I enjoyed. The rest were genuinely unpleasant to listen to. I wasn’t a fan of the instrumentals or Nina Simone’s voice, which made most of the album difficult to enjoy. Overall, just not my kind of music.
I thought Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was a decent album overall. “Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” and “Dirty Little Girl” were the songs that stood out to me. I enjoyed those, but the rest of the album was mostly just okay. Nothing was necessarily bad, but it got a little boring at times, and most of the songs aren’t ones I’d go out of my way to listen to again. There were some really good moments, just not enough to keep me interested throughout the entire album.
Motörhead – Ace of Spades (Album) | 2/10
The album feels like they’re trying way too hard to sound rock and roll. Most of it just sounds like a bunch of random noise thrown together rather than actual cohesive music. Every song sounded practically identical, with the same aggressive vocals, fast-paced instruments, and chaotic energy throughout. There was barely anything to distinguish one track from another, making the album feel repetitive and exhausting. It wasn’t completely terrible, and I can understand why some people might enjoy that style, but nothing stood out to me. Overall, it’s not an album I’d ever go out of my way to listen to again.
Casanova – The Divine Comedy | 1/10
I’m not going to deny that he has a nice voice, but the music and instrumentals just weren’t for me. Nothing really stood out or caught my attention, and I genuinely didn’t enjoy a single song on the album.
