1001 Albums Summary

Great album! Mix of the funk and the soul, can’t complain.

I can see why this was revolutionary for its time, definitely has the Rick Rubin touch. Some songs felt repetitive but I’m not mad at it.

Really strong album. Loved the 90s feel bridging activism and smooth flow.

Solid album that took some convincing and re-listens for me to appreciate. I can sense the genius of McCartney and would love to explore that more.

I love the incredible amount of creativity and musicianship seen here. The synths and drum machines would have been a new sound for the time, so I appreciate that element as well. Prince shows flashes of where he's headed-- the top! I'm only docking one point because of the erotic stuff, but again, I understand that's Prince's nature.

I had a hard time connecting with this album musically, but the messaging was strong. Might need to give a second listen sometime or have a friend who could help me appreciate it further...

This album is wayyyy out of my comfort zone, as I haven't tapped into much indie-folk or gothic style music. I was actually pleasantly surprised, though. The vocals were full of raw emotion and the instrumentation was solid. 3/5

Soulfully sweet. Al Green and his band delivered on this record.

For what it was, I give it a solid 4! Easy listening for studying, great vocals carry this album. (I listened to a shortened version)*

Solid album with some songs like "Carry On" that stood out to me. Very 70s
