All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Sep 21 2026

From a surface level the album is entirely too long. I've never been a fan of The Beatles sound in general and his self work was much the same. After giving a few songs a chance I did not listen to the rest of the album. It's not for me.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Sep 22 2026

For the time, I can see that this album was progressive mixing elements like the electric guitar with the classic jazz and acapella boy group blues sound. I do not think this album holds up over the years. The mixing and production quality is not enjoyable. I really don't like how much they mess with the left and right panning. It is one of the better albums of the time and I can see myself revisiting it. I would definitely skip most of the songs because I don't like the multi voice lines that were very common in this time and the campy organ sound that's found in the instrumental. The guitar work and solos is something to be commended though. The singing is quite good too. Fire In The Hole is a song that is apparently greatly underappreciated because that song is actually amazing. I love the wild piano and dissonance. I would mess with this song in a karaoke setting and will be singing it in the car. I think this album is creative and incredible but it doesn't really hold up after all these years.

Be by Common
Sep 23 2026

It is one of the better hip-hop albums that I have heard. It's not really my style of music and the lyrics aren't relatable at all to me. I find nothing in it but I can say that in term of sound, if hip-hop were my style, this is the album I would be listening to. It is certainly one of the best in the genre, just not the best for me. I respect the creativity and the collaborations that helped create this album.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Oct 06 2026

It's not very often I see an album where the last few songs are more listened to than the rest. Most albums I experience in the modern day are frontloaded and the back half aren't typically worth paying attention to. Coming from the metal scene the natural distortion that Elvis uses intrigues me. The bass line in the opening song is worth paying attention to. It has a nice groove. I will say that it is disappointing to me to know that Elvis is really just a voice. His songs lose substance knowing that he isn't the song writer. I think he really is an incredible singer with a very unique voice but as a musician Elvis wasn't special. This album isn't cohesive. I see it more as a collection of songs performed by a man with no real emotion or meaning behind the words to sell the big ones. From Elvis In Memphis is a good collection of songs if you're a fan of Elvis's voice. If you're a fan of music and human creativity then I would look elsewhere.

It's a DJ album and that's really all I can say. I respect it and what he's created. The instrumentals are very Fatboy Slim. I can see that he really had a signature sound despite using samples from all over the place. I find it unlistenable due to the repetitive nature of the lyrics. However, I did listen to it and found that I really liked the instrumental. I think the vocal lines add to the music sometimes but he overuses it the majority of the time and I just can't listen to the same voice line over and over. This is a significant step up from DaftPunk though. I really like this album compared to what that group has produced. Overall, DJ albums just aren't for me. If it were entirely instrumental or if the vocal lines were reduced by 90% I think I could enjoy it much more. For the time, this was incredibly progressive and creative. I would dare say that there's probably no other DJ album that I would enjoy this much. I will also say that this album is definitely too long. An hour of repetitive voice lines would drive me crazy, hence why I skipped through the songs a lot to get a feel for the actual background DJ work. The beats are immaculate and it is really stellar DJ work but I cannot stand the way all these DJ works have annoyingly repeated voice lines. In Heaven had my favorite beat, Praise You was the most listenable overall, and Acid 8000 made me chuckle.

Van Halen by Van Halen

This album is a classic. As one of the most successful and influential albums of all time, I would say that it has rightfully earned that title. Back when David Lee Roth was a good singer. I found the album to have a very strong start and end. The middle three songs were a lull for me despite having one of their biggest songs, It just wasn't for me. The first four and final four songs are fantastic. The closer to this album is underrated based off the stream count. I know this album will continue to inspire and be influential for many years to come still. The remastered version that I listened to sounded very good and fresh. Eddie's guitar work is legendary and the fun vibe this band brought to the scene will never be forgotten. I am glad to have listened to it. Compared to most other albums this one stands out as a special piece of music history that isn't just remembered for its influence, but its rocking sound and enjoyability.
