Before listening I was kinda optimistic because of just how Hendrix is popular. But I was ready to drown in jazz slop First impression after listening - it's fine. Not too exciting, not too boring, not too technical, but I liked some riffs and cold acoustic sound combined with almost out of place wah wah and distortion. Some songs are just as regular if not boring for me as a song from 1960s can be. Some (like Come On and Still Raining) sound very catchy after that boring stuff. 15 mins long Voodoo Chile first sounds like joke and then you realize they've just put a whole improvisation show on the recording My favorites (not ordered): Gipsy Eyes - I love the riffs, drum are incredible; Still Raining, Still Dreaming - wah wah is fun; Come On - I like the solos and the main riff; Cross Town Traffic - extremely relieving after the first 2 tracks, catchy vocals; I liked it more than I expected, mostly because the boring stuff is constantly interrupted by some interesting licks. Would listen again if I didn't have alternatives. Would rate it 3.5 but there's no half stars so it'll take 4 because it doesn't deserve 3
