That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Oct 12 2026

What an interesting album! The bass tone on this album is amazing, and there are some really cool and exciting musicals ideas but I also found it not that coherent I really loved the instrumental song and sections but wasn't a fan of a lot of the melodies on this album, not because they were bad melodies but I felt like a lot of the time they clashed with the underlying music. But when the melodies did hit, and especially with the harmonies then wow they were amazing. In summary, I have mixed feelings about this album but a lot of respect for the musicianship on it.

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Oct 13 2026

Bruh. Controversial artists on day 2. What are we doing. The highs of this album are really high, unsurprisingly I love the production, I was surprised at how many "real" instruments featured on the album and beats, it's probably all samples but I really loved the beats. But the skits and the filler man I was not a fan, the outro track was definitely a sign of what was to come in later years of Kanye. Mixed feelings but the tracks I like I'd definitely listen to again. Low-key if you cut the filler and made it a shorter album I think it'd be a killer front to back instead of a little bit hit and miss

Rip my first lot of comments disappeared. Overall I really enjoyed this album, I find it very coherent across all the tracks, knowing what I do about the Smiths the range of genre/instruments surprised me a little, but these were mostly all new songs to me. I really like the vocal tone across the album and think the musical choices pair well with it. I also love the Smiths humour in the album. Overall I'm struggling to find good or valuable words to discuss or talk about it, like the music is indie(?) but with more going on? And without further listening I'm just not sure how to discuss the extra parts that I'm hearing in there. But I do feel like if I was alive in the 80s my friends and I would be belting these songs at the top of our lungs.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Oct 15 2026

Such a delightful listen. What a pleasant surprise, I wouldn't've expected an album like this on the list but I'm so glad it's here. Definitely a classic. The time flew by listening to this one and it's crazy to me that this was done in 1958. Also how have I never heard of Count Basie? What rock was I living under.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Oct 16 2026

Lots of thoughts and feelings on this one. I really enjoyed the slightly more raw and less processed version of Coldplay. I'd obviously heard yellow previously but the production across the album combined with songs that don't appear to be written as pop hits in mind create a band I think I enjoy. There are a lot more riffs and interesting chore choices and harmonies and the songs themselves feel looser than later Coldplay in a way that really makes them more enjoyable to me. A lot of songs are slower and potentially sadder but they are very pretty, I also think these songs and production really allow for Chris Martin's voice to shine in a way it doesn't on later Coldplay. The album is by no means perfect but it is a really lovely one

Diamond Life by Sade
Oct 19 2026

Yooooo I've both heard Sade's music before and smooth operator but never realised that's who wrote/performed it! What a fun thing to learn. All of what I've heard of Sade I am a fan. Nothing on this album stood out to me as insanely memorable but I enjoyed it as an overall experience I think it basically had no low points and but it also had very few points of "OMG what the fuck was that" that being said it is very cohesive, I love the tones from the brass/woodwind and also Sade's voice is amazing

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Oct 20 2026

About to be controversial but I am not a fan of Oasis. I totally respect the impact they've had on culture but musically it just doesn't do it for me. Especially this album, their next album is a little better imo, with stronger hooks and song writing choices but this album for me dragged on and on. They have the occasional melody that I am a fan of but mostly the have repeated sections or ideas that feel like they never end. And the whole album feels the same, we don't go on a journey we don't have anything exciting happen. Not one for me.

Oct 21 2026

Um what is this? Listening to tis album has given me far more questions about it than answers. It feels avant garde even in 2026. I'm so curious as to if the underlying beat is made up of samples or recorded for this album. And like the transitions between sections are so smooth but they remind me of like dj transitions. Does this album count as rap? Surely it does. Were other rappers doing this sort of music in 2000? Like who are commons contemporaries? I feel like Childish Gambino was a fan of Common, as there feels like musical cross over to me and if that's the case it's no wonder I like this album.

Being There by Wilco
Oct 22 2026

I did not like the opening of the album and so far on the first track I really don't vibe with the vocal tone ๐Ÿ™ƒ I really like the direction of the songs and the dynamic variations but I hate the tones, not just the vocal tone but the guitar tone and the cymbal sound and ugh this is painful The more acoustic/traditional country sounding songs I am much more a fan of. Still not the biggest fan of the vocals but I think it's a Rhodes doing a lead line over an acoustic guitar with a harmonica and it's gorgeous The vocals are just too processed for my taste I wish I heard more of the raw voice rather than the effects on the vocals Man the tones are all over the place, some I really like and others I cannot stand, each song almost feels like it's the same artist but from a different album Are there elements of the doors in here? There's so many fun ideas but I feel like they are all jumbled and not coherent. It's as if there's a phenomenal album hidden in the marble here but they didn't finish all the finer details when carving away, it was album shaped enough and they left it. There is more consistency as the album goes on the 2nd half feels a lot stronger to me. But it's still a little all over the place, just like these notes and my thoughts on it. There's such Lovley moments and fun (sometimes cliche) ideas but then there are moments I just can't stand, or the cool moment is intercut with a melody or vocal that clashes. The vocals is so lovely when it's raw, it's want and inviting and the slightly off notes make it feel more real, gah! Why wasn't the vocal treated like this across the album?

Oct 23 2026

It's been so long since I've listened to a talking heads album, my housemate in uni days played their records all the time and I can't help but think of him everytime I hear them. Not sure if I've listened to this album before but it's classic talking heads sounds, instrumentation and vibe. It's weird and fun and upbeat and I love it. Nothing on this album surprised me but I am already familiar with Talking Heads, I wonder how accessible this album is for someone who's never encountered them before.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Oct 26 2026

Bruh. I knew I liked Radiohead but I haven't listened to everything they've done. This album is so weird and just such typical Radiohead and I fucking love it. It scratches so many things in my brain and without going back and slowing down and analysing more intentionally I don't have specifics. It shifts gears across the album and across songs in ways that I love and thom yorke's voice suits this music so well! I need to listen to more Radiohead. And the vocal harmonies omg! The falsetto voice mixed in, chefs kiss!
