Must admit, I'm a very late comer to Stevie Wonder's music. I only started really listening to his music in the past year but am slowly starting to digest thru his catalogue. This was the first album i got to. This album is great masterly crafted - some really great songs.
The Allmusic review mentions funky, but I just find this to be a little lightweight and lacking. Stevie went forward in time to steal this RHCP song and record it before they could to make ALL THE MONIES! Eh. 3 / 5 stars.
I think I have to go w/ 5/5 on this. The strength of the songs, arrangements, and the fact that Stevie plays just about every instrument on the album pushes into the 5 range.
Perfect
favs: "Living for the City", "Jesus Children of America", "Higher Ground", "Visions" least fav: "Golden Lady" ig
Stevie Wonder had started his own path with Where I'm coming from and Music of My Mind. Talking Book refined his new freedom. Innervisions through Songs in the Key of Life is when he really set sail, realizing his potential. Great stuff.
