Not sure if it’s just hit me at the right time, but this album seems almost perfect to me. I knew a couple of songs but never listened to the entire album. Very interesting combination of sounds and an obvious precursor to many later artists.
I think it’s a good album overall with a few standout sections. I’d give it a 7/10
Definitely a mood album. Very depressing themes and super interesting melodies and instrumental breaks as well. Great album
I get why this was a huge album. This was released when I was a kid and I understand I should have listened to it much before today. Solid album start to finish.
Love this album. The session musicians are amazing and really help elevate it. It looks like Carole King wrote all of the music which is just amazing. Really has a good mix of smooth vibes and intricate instrumental hooks. The vocals are perfect for this type of music and, though I’m not a lyrics person, this album is filled with great imagery and just brings you to the places she’s singing about.
A little bland. Few gems are the singles, none hidden. No surprises.
This was a very good listen. Not sure if I’ll revisit but a ton of interesting compositions at the beginning of the electronic music boom.
Very poppy side of new wave. Not a bad album, I just think it’s pretty generic sounding to my ears at least. For its time, it may have been considered more innovative, but I’m not sure as it’s before my time. Fun, but generic is how I’d describe it.
Very good album. I can see why this would top some lists. Of course great writing, but I found it great that I didn’t hate his voice. Always thought I did. Not my favourite album but definitely a good one.
