An album I love dearly - the most consistent of all Jurassic 5's albums. What's Golden, A Thin Line, and Sum of Us are the standout tracks for me but the quality control (see what I did there) is very high throughout the album. Chali 2na's flow as ever is what makes it, but the production and sampling is tip-top as well.
I recognised the first track from the days of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant on XFM. I know Harvest and After the Gold Rush well, but no other Neil Young albums so this was a treat to listen to. It feels more Country and more spiky, less lush or gentle than those albums.
Manages to sound simultaneously of its time, modern, and like nothing else I have heard. Starts off with fairly conventional rock and roll sounds on the first track, White Light/White Heat, before giving way to a gradual descent into spoken word madness (The Gift) and then ending with lengthy proto-punk noise and feedback (Sister Ray). A big shift from the more melodic sound of their previous album. It sounds much more improvised, spiky and chaotic.

Have listened to later Suede albums but not really explored this one before. Not what I expected - lots of their later sound in here but some really beautiful plaintive songs in here too. But I think Coming Up remains my favorite of their albums.
I listened to it one go and let it wash over me and transport me somewhere else. Beautiful harmonies.
Why I have never heard this before? I don't know if it just didn't get any airplay or land in the UK, but this ought to have been massive. By turns funky and mellow, and the warmness of the production just draws you in. An album you need to listen to in one go.
A new album to me, never really listened to this band before save for a hit or two on the radio. Funky but with a spiky edge. I was surprised at how early this album was released - in my head Sly and the Family Stone were making music in the late 70s.
