I don't have the qualms rusty has with the "folk/country rock style". that part i think is genius. mixing blues, folk, and psychedelic rock is - A OK with me. love it! I've tried time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time (oh wait this isn't a jam session or a record skip) again to get into the "dead". its always the same for me: vocals kill me. not just lead, but harmony too. i've spent a time or TOO in church choir. the serious yet still off pitch, but trying so hard to harmonize. in church choir it's all about THUH GEEEZZZUUUSSS. the dead sing so seriously about love and heartbreak and being alive. beautiful topics. just cant deal with the lack of vocal execution<PERIOD>
Not familiar with this band. Enjoyed it. Liked the 90s groove and the “noise”. 4.0
Really enjoyable. Like the instrumentals. It's always fun to listen to some Dylan harmonica. Might have to listen over and over to really get into the lyrics. Only real criticism is it does all starts to sound the same. blasphemy for hardcore Dylan fans. Didn't know he originally did Mr. Tambourine Man. Good to know. 4.0
Love the more raw old school across the pond acid hard rock sound. Such yummy guitar.
Love it. Completely new to me. Mixing blues, jazz, reggae, and world beat. And all the sweet guitar riffs and effects. My only criticism is I’m not in love with his voice. Maybe it would grow on me. 4.0
Completely new to me. I love it when a band is made up entirely of rhythm instruments. Really digging the bongos, horn, and rhythm guitar. 4.0
really enjoyed this one. finally vocals I can deal with. lots of great instrumentation. the overall sound doesn't get old like many other albums. enjoyed it the whole way through 4.0
Overall I liked it. It's a different sound for sure. was kind of surprised it didn't start to get old and sound repetitive. Really enjoyed the enigmatic jam session on "I'm not done". 4.0
Nothing really compelled me on this album. I enjoyed the loud rhythm guitar and bass, but just couldn't get into this one. 2.0
Didn't finish the whole album. I've never had strong feelings for the beastie boys. Enjoyed the funky jazzy bits, but not really my jam. 2.0
Another new one! so loud, fast, and screamy - the vocals, guitar, and sax. I enjoyed the latter two more so. enjoyed it enough to listen through twice. guess that's a 5.0 for me.
Really enjoyed the unique tracks that were new to me. particularly Love of My Life and The Prophet Song. Fun album! 4.0
I find it an interesting overlap between stuff like the Beatles and darker/heavier/more psychedelic 70s rock. The vocals occasionally get awful. Especially on cousin kevin. Overall, I like their later albums better. But still enjoy Pinball Wizard
I often confuse TFF with depeche mode. fun 80s music! 4.0
I really enjoy unique sounds that have roots in something I like. Makes it more approachable and enjoyable. I like electronic music well enough to appreciate this rap electronic fusion. Only song I knew is Paper Planes - a popular and fun song. I don't think I would listen to this on repeat. But very creative and fun listen. 4.0
never heard of this band. wasn't anything awful or compelling. 2.0
Don't know the byrds super well, but never realized they delved into the country scene so deeply with little commercial success at the time. From what I understand, it had a lasting impact on the rock country scene that emerged later. It's an enjoyable album, though a bit heavy on the pop country for my taste. I like the banjo tracks the best. 3.0
Fun 70's sound with a bit more funk than I've heard in albums from a similar time frame. Nothing super compelling here, but a fun listen. 3.0
