There's A Riot Goin' On
Sly & The Family StoneI don't think I have the full context of musical history to appreciate what was new and exciting about this group or album, however I did enjoy it.

Interesting how he tows the line between allowing the prisoners to experience some catharsis by booing and disparaging the guards, but also thanks the prison warden and staff to boos from the prisoners. A different kind of anti-prison/anti-establishment sentiment than NWA for instance. Potentially caused in part due to differences in racial makeup at these prisons as well as the existence of white supremacy then and now in the USA.

Sounded like pumk to me. I liked it the energy and rawness of the guitar and vocals. Will listen again!
