Pretty chill and I haven’t listened to much Bruce. I never thought of him as so mellow, even though I know he’s got some pretty chill songs.
Not a favorite. I did not enjoy this album at all.
I thought it would be… more. Maybe if I had time to sit and listen to it over and over? I know Leonard Cohen is touted as being highly influential but overall it’s not something I think I will want to come back to again and again.
I feel like I would have liked this more if I was still on that side of the 90s. It seems like primitive ska, and while it’s good, I would do better with in very very small doses. I suspect it’s on the list for influencing future artists.
Overall a pretty chill album, but the overall feel was that of a string of Apple commercials. Most of the music is good but forgetful. Listening to individual songs is good but I didn’t enjoy the experience of the entire album all at once.
Nice and chill. Overall enjoyable.
Overall a good album. Very eclectic. I didn’t like it all but I did like most of it. I could listen again.
This is an wonderful album to listen to when you don't necessarily want to listen to music but don't want silence. I would like to have this entire album be the soundtrack of my life, I think. Just chill, wordless music that is upbeat.
Not the kind of music I normally listen to, but I felt at home.
Overall this was good. Not something I would have picked up on my own and not what I expected from The Temptations.
This is apparently a protest album, but it’s done in an artsy discordant etherealesque manner. I don’t plan on a repeat listening. It isn’t bad; I think it accomplishes what it set out to do- express grief over England’s actions in the world, and I think it achieves that satisfactorily. But no song stands out and nothing really resonates with me, which is the entire reason I listen to music.
This album is legendary and is as good now as it was when it first came out.
Very pleasant. I’ve listened to Elvis Costello before, but not an entire album. Nice songwriting and solid melodies.
I’m looking at the lyrics and I still can’t understand what they’re singing. The music is catchy and well done. I hear a lot of later artists in their melodies,m. Overall it’s pretty good but not an album I’ll listen to over and over.
I started hating this, (how many times can you say “f**k” and “p***y” in one song), but some of the other songs were pretty catchy. I just feel like the first couple of songs scraped the bottom of the barrel of depravity and immaturity I couldn’t enjoy the rest of the album. 🤷🏽♂️ To each his own.
Great album. I always through Alice Cooper was much harder… I guess this was hard for the time? Excellent album, though.
Excellent album. It came out when my Dad was still young. It makes me think of my grandparents hanging out with some friends and playing some Sinatra on their record player. Happy Vibes.
Such a great album. I didn’t realize how many songs I knew by heart. This is a true gem.
Decent. Would make a good fictional band in a movie. It’s what I kept thinking as I listened. “This music is good, I thought to myself, but not enough to be well known.”
This album is very good. I enjoyed it a lot.
Good, but not as great as I thought it’d be. I knew some of the songs from being in high school when it released.
My first thought was, yuck, another hip hop album. Not my usual fare.
About halfway through I was amazed how much I liked it. This is something I wouldn’t have listened to without this site, and I’m glad I did. This is my favorite album discovery this year.
Really much better than I expected. I think the premise is "What if we played blues music, but in as alt-rock?" Overall it works much better than I would have expected and is entirely enjoyable. I'd never listened to this before, and I found it to be well done. I'd come back for seconds.
Not a big fan. He made some really good music, but for the most part, it isn't on this album. I guess it's significant because it's his debut solo album. It wasn't bad, it's just too much a product of the time.
Kind of waiting for something to get interesting, it's kind of-- oh, Clint Eastwood. I like this song.
Overall fairly chill. Good tunes.
I did a little more prep before listening to this, and someone was quoted as saying this is the greatest live rock album of all time. And that sounds ridiculous. The Who? I mean, they have some good songs, but The Best? And after listening to the first couple of songs I thought it sounded even crazier. It's not that it was bad in any way, just not the greatest.
But then, somewhere around Young Man Blues, I started to change my mind. It felt like the tone shifted to something that was raw but refined and the rest of the concert is a masterpiece. Maybe I was just missing it at the beginning? Every instrument was played to excellence, along with vocal harmonies coming out just the way they needed to. Could it be the greatest live rock album of all time? Maybe.
I don’t really care for the genre in general, and I didn’t think I’d like this album at all. I’ve heard of Common but never listened to anything by him. This is a much better album than I expected, and much more positive than I was expecting. There’s a good message here, and overall I enjoyed jt.
Man, I don’t even have to listen to this to review it. I’ve had it memorized for over 30 years.
