1001 Albums Summary

What is now considered classic Southern Rock, Born on the Bayou is a solid album from CCR with a fantastic opener and of course the signature Proud Mary. Keep on Chooglin sounds like a blues house band having a blast at the end of the night.

Entire album of flawless beats. An inspiration for DJ's everywhere. Today there a thousands of YouTube video created by at home DJ's that sound similar to Entroducing, but when it came out, it was unique.

Straight up Brit Rock from the late 90's but with a bit more pace and edge. Not punk edge, just energy edge.

This album brings up the age old question of how many great songs does it take to claim the entire album is great? This has at least 3 with SWLABR being the best despite Sunshine being the most famous. Clapton is naturally on point here.

Classic Bruce. Amazing early album from the Boss. 'Racing in the Street' is the storytelling song he uses so well in many tunes. I prefer early Bruce as it was filled with a young person trying to make sense of what the rest of life will be now that childhood is over.

Evan Dando has/has an amazing voice for the 90's genre. It is reminiscent of Paul Westerberg's. Fast paced songs, ballads, etc...Evan could do it all.

This work which is pre Tom's Diner and Luka is great considering it is 1985. In subsequent years Natalie Merchant, Tori Amos, Eddie Brickell, etc... would all dominate the airwaves but Vega was just as good.

It was unique when it came out and The Peppers have gone on to release some amazing songs, but it is hard not to listen to the songs on this album (other than Breaking the Girl and Under The Bridge) and hear the Anthony Kiedis and Flea formula on heavy repeat.

The best part of 'At-The-Drive-In' breaking up was the subsequent formation of this band. Experimental and energized they assault the listener but in a great way.

Amazing that this was in 1977...it paved the way for a lot of what 80's "New Wave" became. Groundbreaking album.

Legendary group for a reason. Attitude can trump technical chops and they had more attitude than most bands that have ever taken the stage.
