I do not really know why I have wasted my precious time listening to this. Lost nearly an hour just to witness some arrogant, chauvinistic lyrics written by a man whose opinion is of no consequence at all. 50 Cent full of himself, though (like, sadly, most rappers out there). I didn’t reach the bonus tracks in the album: my ears were already sour enough.
Definitely, not my cup of tea. Almost an hour of an album where every song sounds similar? In my humble opinion, they could have shortened the length of the record. Everybody is talking about the memorable riffs of the first three songs, but for me they weren’t memorable at all. I’ve just listened to them and they didn’t get stuck in my head. Appreciate the effort, although I do not quite understand why it is considered a masterpiece. Best songs (for me): Dirt, because it sounds slightly different from the rest, mostly at the beginning; and God Smack, because of how the singer brilliantly plays with his voice. Worst songs (for me): the first seven, from Them Bones to Junkhead.
I used to think that all Lana del Rey songs in every record sounded exactly the same. That statement is still true to me. However, this particular album has surprised me, maybe because I was expecting more summertime sadness and born-to-die wishes and what I found was a more mature aura surrounding the compositions. I fell in love instantly with the magical whispers of “White Dress” and with the ballad “Let Me Love You Like A Woman”.
Just what I would expect from The Smiths.
Did enjoy the first half of the album. The instrumental songs didn’t say much to me, though. What is true is that it is an easy record to listen.
Magical. Hypnotic. Human. Political. Superb.
The only song that actually caught my attention was “Children of the Damned”, and only because of the riff at the beginning. Again, this is not a musical genre that speaks to me.
Her voice does not speak to me, nor does her music. For me, it lacks something, maybe real emotion, real feeling. I thought it would be different, for lack of a better word. Wouldn’t recommend it. Just listen to “Fly By Night”, and the job is done.
Britpop vibes. Good melodies. Very relaxing.
Now we know which was the group Noel and Liam Gallagher took all their ideas from, including several suspiciously similar guitar riffs. Other than that, why most of the songs have a girl as a protagonist? Bit annoying really. Nonetheless, I loved the melodies and the voice of the main singer, and the harmonies too.

Boring but captivating. Did I say captivating? Just boring and dull as hell. The best way of describing the record is by means of one of the songs: nothing is, indeed.
So many memories from my uni years. My colleagues and I used to go to this indie/pop/rock bar to dance the night away. The DJ would play Don’t Look Back in Anger to finish the session of the night and to get us all out of the bar up until next Saturday. That is why I rate this album with four stars.
Is it just me or is he trying to emulate Liam Gallagher’s nasal voice sometimes through the record? Tbh, I don’t see anything special in the song Angels. 😅 I agree with most people saying that this album is some kind of weird, vague mixture between Oasis and Blur.
