White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Sep 05 2022

Already listened to this a while ago, years ago. I believe I borrowed the CD from Lucan Library and the only song I remember from it is "We're Going to Be Friends". A lot of it is a bit too heavy and aggressive for my usual tastes, but Jack White's voices is raw in a nice way. I like The Union Forever! And Offend in Every Way. Had to skip through Aluminum, too much...noise.

Raw Power by The Stooges
Sep 06 2022

Some of these songs feel like fun Guitar Hero songs, but I had to skip a couple. Not a big fan

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Sep 07 2022

This one's already very fun! Strange guy, never listened to Tom Waits before. It really gives the guy from Over the Garden Wall, the Highwayman. I like it! Old soulful dark barstool crooning, bluesy.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Sep 08 2022

S&G fucking rock, personally. Bridge over Troubled Water is such a heartpulling althem, and pretty much every song on this album I'd listen to on repeat. Great stuff!

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Sep 09 2022

Billy Joel, what a legend. I know so many of these songs but never listened to the full album! Great stuff honestly. Big fan.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Sep 12 2022

Appropriate :-) not a bad album, good for background listening! Apparently this is what "New Wave" or "alternative" 80s music is, yeah it's fine.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Sep 13 2022

Classic rock which dips into some bluesy stuff, cream is fun. Sunshine of your Love is such a quintessential riffy rock song. Mother's Lament gave me a smile.

Sep 14 2022

First time listening. Can get pretty repetitive but good for hyping up I think. Big beat is certainly fun.

Jack Takes the Floor by Ramblin' Jack Elliott
Sep 15 2022

As cowboy albums go, this one is alright. Just a guy and his guitar, singing repetitive songs. I can tell he puts his whole into each performance though and that's nice.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Sep 16 2022

Really solid album! Amy Winehouse's vocals stand out so much, instantly recognisable. A lot of the same themes through this album, but some good ones in between the ones we all know. Really impressed with the production for each song, some songs are soulful, some Ska-esque, others are pure r&b I guess.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Sep 19 2022

Eh, the kinks is the kinks, fun enough! Sunday Afternoon is a classic.

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Sep 20 2022

Such a mournful, somber, blue album. Lots of sadness, makes me wanna slump in a puddle while listening. Also, that one song from Shrek 2!

Sep 21 2022

Not really my thing. Beats felt boring, the singing was off in terms of timing and pitch, his accent is fun tho.

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Sep 22 2022

Didn't like this one, very noisy and not for me rn. The vocalist is not really doing it for me musically.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Sep 26 2022

I love it! O Pato!! This song keeps finding me. What a fun album, honestly.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Sep 27 2022

I've known of Herbie Hancock for a long time, I've always enjoyed the first few minutes of Chameleon and then it just gets very noisy and discordant and I'm no longer having fun. Unfortunately that's a lot of the same with this 4-song album. Won't listen again.

Sep 30 2022

Oh! I know like a handful of these songs! Never heard of Elbow before but yeah this album was really fun, some stuff was moody, some was cool, good example of enjoyable 2000s music.

American Pie by Don McLean
Oct 03 2022

American Pie (one of those songs that you just NEED to learn all the words to) sums up this album. There are slow songs, upbeat songs, just like the different sections of the titular song. Lots of really good stuff here, will definitely listen again!

Hotel California by Eagles
Oct 06 2022

Amazing Album. Hotel California is such a well crafted song, everyone knows. I can't remember which album my dad had when I was growing up, but it contained an acoustic version of Hotel California which is always the "real" version to me. Lots of good songs elsewhere on the album too! Definitely ought to listen again.

Oct 21 2022

Yeah this album rocks, lots of great songs, still has that fun faerie flair of the early Queen stuff but also some absolutely banging soaring guitar riffs and lots of variety in terms of song energy.

Revolver by Beatles
Oct 24 2022

Some great songs on this album, also some mids/duds. Also lots of noisey bits, builds and atmosphere of discordance which is cool but not pleasant to listen to.

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Oct 27 2022

This is a boring album, sorry Billie. I didn't finish it, every song feels the exact same: same slow strings, same warbling voice, same everything. Feels like default Christmas music you'd hear coming from a sad shopping centre.
