Natty Dread
Bob Marley & The WailersBeautiful stuff, joyous and reserved, but also weirdly light imo

Heard before but properly for the first time. Damn you couldn’t make this these days. That Sgt Pepper sample! A shit ton of fun. Proud to be a semi-obnoxious NYer music. Weirdly Stuy
It’s dumb and incredible. The second side is better than I remember, more classics
Beautiful, like a chamber suite of songs—-the Pet Sounds comparison I only loosely hear, Pet Sounds has a kind of alien quality this misses—-but beautiful
Shockingly good. Dramatic, emotive, ironic. I get it and I’m mad about it
Can’t really remember any of it.
Darker than I’d have ever guessed, chamber-jazzizsh. The explicit political song reminded me of Zappa (not in a good way). Still an intriguing album I’m sure I’ll come back to.
I just didn’t *get* it. This was the first big challenge to my open mind—-I’ve never liked this kind of rock outside of like the best of Nirvana, the sound is *dated* to my ears, etc. I have to try it again—-I could loosely get why it was considered so good, but I couldn’t meet it.
Very pretty set of songs, less ornate than the Bryter album. I imagine one day this one will hit me hard: as it is I just admired it a lot
Thought it was great. A beautiful album, gotta look into more country. Kind of like if Dylan did a 808’s and heartbreak? I know that makes no sense
Admittedly didn’t listen closely. Admittedly the album seduced me anyway: gorgeous stuff, like a more obviously band-oriented Stereolab, with those gorgeous strings. Can already tell this is gonna get some play around Christmas for me, some sad night. Beautiful stuff, even if I’m not exactly convinced to lay my life down for it.
A masterpiece c’mon now
