Dec 21 2022

Best track(s): Still Take You Home // Red Light Indicates Doors Are Secured // Mardy Bum Worst track(s): any of the others. Little to no variation between the tracks. Mostly had to lower the volume on every track and nearly stopped halfway through. I like the song titles.. the songs.. not so much. I like my ears intact. Baselines are good though.

With The Beatles by Beatles
Dec 22 2022

Best track(s): Don't Bother Me (lyrics!) // Please Mister Postman // You Really Got A Hold On Me // Money (That's What I Want) Worst track(s): Little Child Definitely noticing that I'm used to stereo instead of mono. Songs are incredibly short as well. Probably wouldn't listen to this again because of music quality. Songs are decent but not very memorable. Wondering if stereo version would help.. (probably, liked the last track more and that one was in stereo) This type of music seems to grow on you the more you listen to it.

Pornography by The Cure
Dec 23 2022

Best track(s): ? Non-existent, if I had to pick I'd say 'Cold'. Worst track(s): all of it I do love the eighties sound! The first track sounds very ominous and atmospheric.. Usually I don't really mind long tracks, but the first one was too long for what it is. 15 minutes in and the voice of the singer is starting to be annoying. Don't think this album is for me. Tracks started to blend together and weren't any more interesting for it... I was already in a bad mood starting this and it hasn't improved (which was to be expected apparently, looking at the summary).

Jan 18 2023

Best track(s): the rest I think? Worst track(s): Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers I mean, this album consists of christmas songs and I'm listening to it in the middle of january.. but these were the good christmas songs and I didn't really mind. It's a good record and I might listen to it again next christmas time.

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Jan 19 2023

Best track(s): School's Out // Blue Turk (at least the first half) Worst track(s): My Stars The songs were all pretty good and I was pleasantly surprised. Quite varied. I expected having to turn the volume down on most songs, but that wasn't the case at all. However, the last song was a bit underwhelming. Fun, but it shouldn't be the last track. I expect I will listen to this again.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Jan 20 2023

Had it on in the background. Some good songs, no standouts.

Buffalo Springfield Again by Buffalo Springfield
Jan 23 2023

I don't think the 60s are for me.. Perfectly acceptable music but again, no standouts. I like the start of every song!

Pretenders by Pretenders
Jan 24 2023

Best track(s): Stop your sobbing & the latter half of the album. Not really any bad tracks. Quite liked it! Will give this another listen sometime later.

Jan 25 2023

I dreaded listening to this one.. Surprisingly melodic at times, but way too much profanity in an effort to be edgy. Random skit in the middle. I almost never pay attention to lyrics on a first listen, which is almost a requirement for rap. Also, I think I listened to a shorter version, and I'm not at all inclined to look up the longer one.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Jan 30 2023

Best track(s): First we take Manhattan. Actually loved this album! He has a very deep voice and he uses it well. Lots of variation in between the songs (at least in rhythm). Sometimes funny and/or clever lyrics. Perfect for dark evenings, perhaps less so for the summer. I would probably listen to this again.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jan 31 2023

Vaguely liked the beats and bass, absolutely hated the rest. Got 8 minutes in and skipped the rest of the album. I'm a music person and not a lyrics person and this sounds absolutely terrible. They're screaming the whole album..

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Feb 01 2023

Best track(s): She's lost control, I remember nothing Worst track(s): The rest I've listened to the 2019 remaster. This man sounds like he's singing in a can.. He also doesn't quite seem to know about melodies. Terrible listen, will probably never listen again. The saving grace of this album might be the basslines.

Solid Air by John Martyn
Feb 02 2023

Sonically this is a very cohesive album. Haven't heard any standouts however, except perhaps 'If I were a carpenter'. This album could have its place in a coffeeshop playlist, used as background noise.

Feb 03 2023

Truly meant as background noise. I liked the beginning more than the middle or end. It is good music for reading or studying. I get why it's on this list, but at the same time it feels like it doesn't quite belong.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Mar 22 2024

Background noise for listening in shops. Not bad, might be something to put on while studying.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Mar 25 2024

I listened to this a few days ago, and cannot for the life of me remember anything about this. I think I originally wanted to give this 4 stars, but I'm gonna put it at 3 now (because I do remember not hating it and I've listened to a lot of worse stuff).

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Mar 26 2024

Started out great and funky, got worse as it got along. Too much just instrumentals. But all in all, not bad. Could very well be used as background music.
