1001 Albums Summary

Already quite familiar with this, of course. Cash in concert - even in front of prisoners - is a bit of a mixed bag for me. Gets a little of that old fashioned showbiz. But he was certainly in fine form, and he does a few of his classic tunes.

Eddie's a great player, and "Jump" was perfectly fine. But this band usually just bores me to tears.

Not my thing, mainly because I don't think the singer can sing. It's musically kind of interesting. As if the psychedelia of 1967 was still a thing to dress songs in.

Ska is not my thing.

Traditional cowboy stuff, but the best of its type.

Side one is a brilliant takedown of 1967 and the hippie movement. Zappa the satirist at the peak of his snide powers. It even has some catchy tunes. It gets a little self-indulgent on the second side, but overall this is one of the best records he ever made.

This is not my thing, and her voice is often irritating to me. But I always liked the opening track as the "Vikings" theme.

Not my thing at all.

Over-rated. It's not a forgotten classic. But it's nice, Colin Blunstone has one of those unforgettable voices, and "Time of the Season" is almost as good as "Tell Her No.".

In which Roger Waters begins to grab the steering wheel. I don't think this is their masterpiece - I do remember being dazzled by it when it came out, but being bored by it a few weeks later. It's certainly one of their better albums, but - and this is quite unusual for Floyd - the best tracks are the shortest ones and the worst tracks are the longest ones.
