WilcoYeah I would like this if I was a gen x democrat dad but I'm not so I think it's whiney and lame. This was a chore and a half. No thanks!

I didn't realize how serious and powerful some of the lyrics were going to be. Seemed to drag on a bit in places but overall a very nice listen.
Incredible. Highlights include Jersey Girl and Ruby's Arms. A sweet and sensitive album that has carnival notes but doesn't go to far. Actually a very approachable listen for Tom Waits. Didn't even know this album existed, very much enjoyed it.
I did not like this. Sounds like a band that is covering 80's songs even though this came out in 1980. Synth sounds suck and the lyrics did not connect with me at all. No thank you!
Very interesting album. I did not expect all of the jazz solos/themes/improvisations as all I knew was this was a prog rock classic. A bit long but there are multiple tracks I will be returning to.
This album stinks. All the songs sound the same and this band has no edge whatsoever. R.E.M? more like REM sleep! Boring and bad. Next!
I loved this album. You really need to listen to this at a louder volume as there is so much happening all at once. You can tell this was made before compression ruined dynamic range in music. Such an impressive piece of work. I love it.
Very good listen. The background vocalists are really impressive on this and help it carry weight. Important to note that 3 songs are not available on Spotify so I can't give it a full 5 stars but great listen for sure!
Great listen. Changes is one of my favorite songs ever. This album feels so perfectly amateur and professional at the same time. Such an attainable yet unique sound from this band. Great listen
Good not great. Some good guitar sounds. Perfect 3/5 for me personally
Seemed to be a bit of a chore to listen to the entire thing but almost every single song has a payoff near the end. I was surprised to enjoy the lyrical content so much as well. Overall a really good listen. I'll be coming back to this band more often for sure.
Eh, just okay. I know that this album really defined a genre/era but going back now seems so dated. They really created a new sound and they get props for that but coming back in 2023 does not excite the way I would have hoped.
This shit sucks. How can someone be intelligible and yet so clear at the same time? This was a GRIND to get through. Not for me at all. NEXT
Not bad! First Elvis Costello album I've ever listened to. I thought it was pretty fun and his guitar playing was impressive. Not bad!
Pretty fucking great.
Holy shit this sucks. This band sucks, it's crass and bad and flea isn't even that good the bass is just mixed loud. Took me 3 days to finish this. 0/5
Pretty fucking solid. Reminded me of learning guitar and playing One over and over again. The flips from classical to metal got to be a little silly on the back half of the record. Still very listenable. The remaster fixed the snare sound I hate but it's still smashed. Good album!
Very nice! Great sound, great recording. A few songs got a little into the scales a bit much for my taste but still pretty awesome. Very approachable jazz record.
Awesome! Punchy drums, fun lyrics. Great listen!
A nice listen. Really didn't blow me away and I'm afraid it will get lost in this experience. Nothing to special for me personally but still a good sounding record.
I mean it's a fucking classic. So listenable, great lyrics really fun hooks. I love new wave and I love this record.
Steely Dan for dumb guys.
I would be very surprised to see folks not rate this album a perfect 5/5. It's hard to imagine anyone coming along and doing more for guitar than Jimi and I just don't think it will ever happen. This takes me back to learning guitar for the first time and visiting his tombstone many years ago. Fantastic tone, sound, everything. Just an amazing piece of art.

Very nice smooth, emotional album. I can see why some folks really gravitate to Nick Cave. Especially for someone losing their faith with religion and changing their outlook on the world I could see this being a very powerful album. Love the Leslie sounds on Far From Me. Listened to the 2011 remaster.
Fun! Nothing really special. Some good hits but others were quite grating. Not bad. 2.5
Phew. This took me all weekend to listen to. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was definitely long.
Wow this was really good! Some of it was kind of corny and I definitely didn't expect it to be so fucking sad?? But good album. 3/5 for me
Really good! I think Fame was the only song I knew from this album until this listen. Really poppy and catchy. Dig!
