The Robots is the best song on this album. Also, I’m relieved it’s only 6 songs, 36 minutes long…. Beep bop booooooop!
I liked this album! Warm and summery.
I liked all the different and interesting sound samples.
Enjoyed it musically, but found the vocals grating after a few songs. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way lol.
Classic Bowie. What’s not to love?
I haven’t listened to this full album before. Woodstock was my favorite song. Mostly enjoyed the instrumental grooves throughout the album.
Not something I’d typically listen to, but I enjoyed the more upbeat songs. I can see the influence these guys had on Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murpheys, even The Decemberists.
Do not liek. I found this album very…. bland. “Is This Music?” is, to me, the best song on the album. A little surprised this album ended up on this list…?
I don’t know why I’m just now listening to this album in full— what a masterpiece. Obviously I’ve heard their most popular songs over and over, but I’ve been missing out on the others! Release ended up being my favorite song. Absolutely beautiful way to finish out this album.
This one is hard! Musically I don’t love this album. Lyrically, though, it’s so good! Stork and Owl is really cool. I don’t think I’d listen again, but props to these guys for beautiful writing.
This album was a fun listen! I can see why Groovin’ is favorite from this album. Added a few songs to my oldies playlist.
So cynic. Much angst! Gotta be honest, I like Nevermind more. 😬
First time listening (aside from Epic)! This album surprised me. I liked the cool bass riffs sprinkled throughout. And how theatrical (?) it was. There were times I thought “wtf is this?!”, and there were times I had to dance along to the bouncy drums. Falling to Pieces was my fave. And the Sabbath cover was rad. I hope the overlords in my friend group will keep me after this review. 🙏
I wanted to like this album, but something just isn’t hitting for me. Maybe you have to be in the right somber, haunting mindset. I don’t think I’ll listen again.
Any man that can sing sensually about KFC is a true poet in my book.
Did not liek.
I think Gran Turismo and Tony Hawk ruined Beck for me. It’s background music! He uses really interesting sounds and cool beats, but his music too easily slips behind anything else going on.
I’m struggling with how to rate this album! Femi Kuti is obviously talented. But I don’t love this genre and I wouldn’t seek this album out to listen to it again. 5 stars for talent, 1 star for how it fits into my personal taste in music.
Casio keyboard 80’s radio junk. Don’t You Want Me is catchy, but in the most annoying way.
It’s giving Bjork. It’s giving boogey man. It’s… interesting. Might be something I throw on to do some angry painting.
Enjoyed this album overall. Psychedelic Beatles vibes. Afterglow was my favorite song.
Should I mark this as “did not listen”? I made it through the first 10-15 seconds of each song. Not for me.
I’m not sure how I avoided Wilco for so long. But I wasn’t missing much. This album feels like it should exist in a world of gray. Boring and dull for the most part. I did like Jesus, Etc. but everything else was very meh.
Didn’t love it or hate it. Some interesting bits strewn throughout. I don’t think I’d listen again.
I liked the beats and use of interesting sounds. Jeru’s lyrics are clever. This is definitely an influential rap album. Enjoyed it overall.
Most of the songs on this album don’t pay off the way my brain wants them to. I like Madonna’s earliest albums, but this one was very meh for me. Maybe too electronica for my tastes.
One of my favorite Elton John albums! His music is always full and well-rounded. I love his story telling. Elton’s a musical class act.
I know these guys are talented, and that they brought dance music to a more mainstream audience. But I cannot get into this genre! Is it drugs? It’s drugs isn’t it? I need more drugs. Kraft Punk!
I love this album!! It’s great from start to finish. I don’t know what else to say… it’s Elton John.
Hot garbage with glow sticks.
Interesting album! Baron Saturday is so weird, and I’m not sure why, but I liked it. I don’t know that I’d seek this album to listen to again, so 3 stars.
I wanted to like this. Can’t get past the vocal style. Sorry Ian.
I like Rage in small doses. This album was hard to power through.
Are you squeezing on my cheeeeeeks Are you grabbin on my buunnnnns
Ugh.
You can’t convince me this isn’t a parody album.
Ehhhhh generic 80’s pop.
Couldn’t get into this one. I did like the acoustic version of Hysteric though.
Been awhile since I listened to this full album. Influential for sure. The beats and production are kick ass. Maybe I’m a crotchety old bog witch now, but this album doesn’t have much to say aside from guns, hoopties, and bitches. Dre’s verses aren’t clever.
Didn’t love it. Didn’t hate it. Probably will not listen again.
Fantastic album stuffed with legendary songs. Hell yeah.
Could not get into this. Musically I liked Just Like Heaven but the vocals are… not good.
I’ve heard her song Venom around the internet, but never know who it was. Finding it here was cool! Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
