Not really into this. Went in thinking it would sound more like the Cars. Not sure because of the era, or because, well, Cars. Not surprising that I did not enjoy the album as the Cars song I never really liked either.
Classic
This didn’t age well.
Not really my thing.
Really nice evening listening. Who could fault Willie ever.
So good
So good listened twice back to back.
Frampton was never really my thing. A little too young to be mesmerized.
Probably a solid 3.5 stars. I definitely liked this more back in the day, and I’ll be curious as to how well the albums of the noughts fare. Not well, I presume.
Strong
Might give it a second listen. Interesting. Prob influential to a number of Oughts bands; Hot Hot Heat, Hives…
Probably one of the only albums I don’t own that will be on this list from this era. Listening to it now, I realize this is the reason I didn’t own it. It’s not that good. It’s ok. And sounds typical for the era and fairly unremarkable
There’s one song I like. You know the one.
Know this one by heart. Should give another listen. Should also own the CD. I’ll add it to my list.
I get it. Fantastic
More familiar with the later, Where You Been, which was a seminal CD for me in which I can remember when I first heard it, with who and the apartment we lived in at the time. Great music can take you back that way and keep it preserved there for eternity. Not sure that I had ever heard this one in its entirety but it is wonderful in the same way. I’ve always thought sometimes too much Dinosaur Jr. all at once is more than most people can handle. I’m sure in my consecutive plays if Where You Been, I could shut it down after two songs. DJr. can pack a lot into two songs.
No really my thing
I own this. Not my favorite Suzanne Vega album. But solid.
Didn’t finish the whole thing - but I think I kind of get it. I’m not sure there will be a five star album from me from this genre, it’s just not my thing. The thumping chugga chugga, I find a bit monotonous but I’m guessing metal fans find my music boring by comparison. I might try to listen to the whole thing - I just gotta pick my setting correctly.
I guess I kind of get it. I like the wry sarcasm of say, the Magnetic Fields more. But I might listen to this again.
Solid. I can listen to this frequently without it being a favorite.
Really enjoyed this one. Right from the first track.
Got into a bit of a rabbit on this one. Know the album pretty well, but things I learned afterward. 1. Scottish band 2. Karl Wallinger, of World Party was a part of the band prior to this album. He was part of the Waterboys during ‘Whole of the Moon.’ And left the band during that tour. 3. There is a song called ‘World Party’ on this album. Not sure if the timeline on all that.
Classic. Perfect.
Not as good as I remembered
Boring
I can already tell I’ll probably like this whole album. I’ll give it a 4 star review and then give it greater consideration later. Funny co-worker story: for whatever reason co-worker thinks I’m a huge fan and he will always work in EATB into the music conversation whenever he can. I guess I should have listened to him then.
