Live!
Fela KutiNot far off elevator music. I guess it’d be ok in the background.

Aisha has been one of my favourite tracks forever, and I’d always wanted to listen to the album it’s from. Strange that I never recognised Iggy’s voice though. Listened to it a few times over the past couple of days. Not many albums I can both intentionally listen to, and have them in the background while reading, but this works for me.
Clearly I’m missing a lot on the way of background and/or drugs here. It sounded like unremarkable barely audible wanking on stage, rather than something ground breaking.
After listening to this album, I want to walk up to each of the band members, also them in the face and tell them to cull the fuck out.
Amazing how little it feels like Michael Stipe’s voice changed through all the R.E.M. albums. Also amazing how good this is for a debut!
This album totally had a “stereophonic recording“ sticker on the front. A long way from my normal listening choices, but actually works for later on a Friday night after a long drive. Such a sparse mix, too. No instrument really gets in the way of the others. Wait. There was yodeling. Clearly some good drugs were being consumed.
Pretty amazing that I’ve never listened to this album before, and only heard one or two of its tracks. Almost country at one point (yes, I know I’m likely to get murdered in my sleep now). The drums. So simple. So clear. So nice. N.I.B. And Warning are such classic metal tracks 🤘
So, Moondance is by Van Morrison!? I had no idea. Well, my kids like it.

Had a bit of a similar sound to Coil, but French. Most of the first track had me not really looking forward to the rest. Happily, it improved. One of those albums that just wouldn’t be great on headphones
Driving music par excellence
Peak 80s. Still pretty listenable though. I’m kinda surprised that I only knew one of the tracks.
Meh
Urgh.
Always love Bowie. Not one of his best, but I could hear hints of Black Star in a few of the tracks
I *hate* modern country music. But this, I can handle listening to. Beautiful voices singing meaningful songs. You can’t really complain about that, can you?
My six year old daughter 10 seconds in “I hate it. Turn it off” Can’t say I thought it much better, but I kinda understand where it fits in musical history, which is so very much not my time.
Love the songs. Not so much the performance.
Totally not my thing
Well, my six year old approved. Not sure whether that’s good, or bad…
Yeah. Fuck no.
That voice on Fever! It really shows that this is from before people put huge amounts of thought into the overall flow of an album.
I remember finding this album intensely annoying when it came out. There are a handful of good tracks surrounded by annoying crap. Alas, my opinion is unchanged after this listening.
Easily one of the best things to come out of the 80s
Totally not what I was expecting. More enjoyable easy listening than hard rock
Live albums always seem to fall into two categories. Single listen novelties, or a way to listen to music in a raw non-overproduced form. This is the latter. Recording quality is just high enough to enjoy while you get the feel of the energy of the live performance. It still amazes me that I’d never heard much of Motörhead before my 30s, especially given they’ve influenced a lot of the music I’ve listened to all my life.
People listen to this crap voluntarily?
