Appropriate for the first album to be by the artist who got me into music over two decades ago. Eminem is unbelievably gifted and one of the most technically gifted rappers of all time. Shocking to listen back to some of the lyrics I was listening to as a young teen.. Pretty good album, likely to have enjoyed this more as a teen.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake

Different to what I had expected having briefly listened to some of Pink Moon in the past. Was expecting a stripped back acoustic led album and was pleasantly surprised to hear the accompanying band. Fantastic album. Despite Drake's solemn lyricism and delivery, the production is bright - Drake's masterful plucking and beautiful string arrangements throughout. Masterpiece.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Mar 14 2023

Another masterpiece. Can hear how Dusty has influenced the likes of Amy Winehouse and Adele nearly four decades on with the beautiful string arrangements, a flawless voice and the ability to transport you to a smoky, sultry bar in the city at midnight surrounded by individuals dressed to the nines. Son of a Preacher Man may be the most popular track off the album; not close to being the best though. Perfect from front to back.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Mar 15 2023

Despite the incredible songwriting, a lot of this album just sounded far too similar. Likely to require more than just the one listen to really appreciate it. Standout tracks: Tangled up in Blue You’re a Big Girl Now If You See Her, Say Hello

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 19 2023

Wow, what a fucking great album. First half of the album is particularly strong, it struck how fresh this sounds over five decades on.

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth

Nigh on impossible to rate after a single listen, just so much to digest. Can certainly see why it is held in such high regard and will grow on me after a few listens but a lot of the album just meshed into a single sound. Have to say, unbelievable that this is came out in 1988. Still sounds so far ahead of its time.
