Back in the USSR has a cool guitar solo.
Blackbird is a beautiful song!! 💝
Rocky Raccoon is a cute song :)
Helter Skelter was a good song
I enjoyed sexy Sadie and honey pie too.
Overall really well put together album that I could listen to anytime. Had a bit of everything, but wasn't musically boring at all - each song was really interesting and creative. 5/5
Overall kinda mid album. I enjoyed the rhythm of I'm So Young. Dance Dance Dance was fun, and I know Help Me Rhonda because my dad sings it all the time. The variety of instruments used was pretty cool, but otherwise I thought the way they used the instruments was generally pretty bland. A little boring in general. 3/5
Hey, my dad listens to this ahaha
I accidentally clicked on the collector's edition of this album instead of the normal one, but I guess I'll listen to the full thing lmao - 29 songs / 2:30 instead of 9 songs / 46 minutes!
Cool bassline and sax solo in Rio
Hold back the rain is cool!
I liked Save A Prayer - some very cool sounds, like the loop, the strange violin-y thing they have going on, etc
Overall, a little repetitive, but entertaining. 4/5
Bongos! (You ain't the problem) Also just a very groovy song
Rolling: Kinda reminds me of MGMT's little dark age in some of the sound effects. Cool though
I've been dazed: ooh we roll right through the album! didn't even detect the song change. uplifting and enlightening song!
Piano Joint (intro): suspenseful yet groovy
Piano Joint: I could learn this on the piano!
Living in denial: kinda weird, not my favorite song. Also not a bad song though, just not my jam.
Hero: Cool beat! I think the guitar solo would have been really cool if it wasn't so distorted but that's also the sound he's going for
Hard to say goodbye: OOHH! That's an intro. If I was making a movie like Baby Driver, I feel like this song would belong in a movie like that, but I have no idea where it would go!
Final Days: even though the song is about the last days on the planet, it feels inspiring, like it's our collective first day :)
Interlude: The monologue at the start of the song is a good memorial (maybe wrong word - reminder?) of racism
Solid Ground: Nice chord progression
Overall: First album in this project that I had never heard of, and I'm very glad I did. It has so much going for it: a wide variety of sounds, some jazz influence, and an emotional rollercoaster. Meant to be listened to as a full album, not individual songs. Was a pleasure to listen to, I'll have to remember it for later :D 5/5
Senior Service is groovy :)
Oliver's Army is familiar, but I had never looked at the lyrics - We need to stop fighting!
Goon Squad is a good song - upbeat, more "rough", more punky :) more along my style
OOH SUNDAY'S BEST IS SUPER COOL - very unexpected in this album but very welcome! circusy in a way.
This album isn't particularly *my* album but overall I thought it was alright. It definitely had its highlights, but I don't know if I'll go out of my way to listen to the songs I haven't favorited again. 4/5
Breathe is a strong song. Pretty good
DIESEL POWER! new theme song ahaha
Funky shit: so many synths!
Ooh I love the drumline in Serial Thrilla. It also sounds like the music in The Matrix's lobby shootout scene
Minefields: finally some non-synths! Sounds like I'm in a medival blacksmith shop lol
I'm not gonna lie this music all sounds kinda the same
Narayan has a cool chant though! toast approves
Firestarter: honestly gives me doom eternal vibes in a weird way ahaha
I wonder what this genre is called. Electronic? Techno? Hip hop? I'd call it techno-hiphop but I'm not sure. It's a very 90's sound
Wikipedia says that it's "big beat" or also electropunk which I suppose I see.
The genre does have some cool drum riffs but it gets really repetitive really quickly. Music to do parkour to ahahaha
As far as the album goes, I think it's accomplishing what it's trying to, but I think it's just too repetitive. It does have some cool motifs going on each song, but I think each song is still mostly more of the same.
Novacaine for the soul: a little weird, but that hasn't hurt anybody! I'm still enjoying it :D
I like this! It's weird, it's vibey, it's dynamic, it's good. between 4 and 5 stars.
My Beloved Monster would have been a good song to end the album on.
Flowers- Interesting use of instruments, with angel choirs, beach guitars, and synths XD
I thought there were a lot of good songs in this album, a lot of dynamic and interesting things going on. It maybe could have leaned a little bit more on the "weird" aspect of it, or maybe have made it a little heavier, but otherwise I liked it! 5/5
Well balanced. I feel like the album wasn't trying to be pretentious but amounted to quite a lot. Relatively quiet, but otherwise I liked it. Favorite songs: Glory, Soap Star Joe, Mesmerizing.
It was alright. It definitely had its gems, but overall I didn't feel like the album was particularly inspired. Favorite song: Mr. Siegel.
Based on the spotify stats, we can very clearly see that there are exactly two (2) hits here in this album, no more, no less: "Breakdown" and "American Girl". (Both of which I very much liked, American Girl was a strong song to end the album on)
I also liked Fooled again and Hometown Blues.
Overall the album felt very easy-listening, usually slower and more melancholy tracks. I thought it was decent, 4/5.
Roundabout is the "to be continued..." meme! It's also a really good song, I've never heard the whole thing!
As an album, it felt determined, but in a sad and melancholy way. Like, the protagonist of a story who was fighting for something they knew they had already lost. I really enjoyed it, 5/5.
Favorite Tracks: Roundabout, South Side of the Sky, Mood for a Day. Maybe Heart of the Sunrise.
I really loved Since I left you!
The whole album is very smooth, even though it doesn't have everything. It's Chill, lo-fi, but also very high-energy and extremely creative. Some albums feel long even though they're only 30-40 minutes, this album felt very smooth, even though it was a full hour it went by very quickly. Absolute rollercoaster of an experience, 5/5.
Favorite songs: Since I Left You, Stay Another Season, Two Hearts in 3/4 Time, Electricity, Frontier Psychiatrist, Little Journey.
Under the pressure is very vibey, gives me "running down a dream" vibes but a little more chill
Red Eyes is the perfect song to stare out the window to
Suffering - I think this is indicative of the whole album, but especially in this song, they just turned the reverb ALL the way up damb
I have now been indoctrinated into folk. This is all I want now. 5/5
Favorite song: San Francisco Baby Blues
It was alright. The album seemed like a darker version of Bowie's heroes, which was cool, but I thought a lot of the music was more or less just alright.
Album was alright. I thought the lyrics were good in each of the songs, but I don't love the style.
Not my favorite Beatles album, but a Beatles album nonetheless :D
I liked it! It was really bluesy but also really mellow. It reminded me of Led Zeppelin, but somewhat less intense, Zepp can get very intense at times. Favorite song: freedom rider, for the sax solo.
Kinda weird but yeah sure
Fun. Heavy and lighthearted at the same time
