Album Notes:
- Blackened is a great start BUT holy cow where's the bass its just ALL high end i feel like im gonna get tinnitus
- Title track be long af but its really epic and goes hard but yeah my ears still hurt from any lack of low end
- Eye of The Beholder was okay, pretty standard Metallica
- One = NUT
- Next couple tracks are solid but feel like they're a couple minutes too long
- Viking chants are silly
- Okay braining turning off during To Live Is To Die
-The closer woke me back up so that's good
Best Tracks: Blackened, ...And Justice For All, One, Dyers Eve
Worst Tracks: Eye of The Beholder, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity
Album Notes:
- opener has some nice jaunty jazzy vibes
- next track is fine
- Empty Pages is pretty nice... not mind-blowing but nice
- the playing is great and technically well-executed yet it does sound kind of flat and generic
- Title track is a nice folksy song but yeah my brain is shutting down at how long and flat these songs sound. Technically good, but has very little feel too it.
- Overall a decent effort with cool moments but didnt really grab me.
Best Tracks: Empty Pages, Glad, John Barleycorn (Must Die)
Worst Tracks: Stranger To Himself
Album Notes:
- Holidays In The Sun slaps i like the bri'ish accents and noisy guitars and also the wacky mix that kinda sucks but also goes hard
- These bois really know how to play 4 chords
- kinda sounds like a stereotype of punk music but it also invented that stereotype so i guess that can be kinda forgiven
- next several songs are fine but kinda forgettable and also kinda sound the same
- God Save The Queen has some nice riffage but yeah idk it feels like surface level commentary on the whole subject but it still kinda goes hard
- Anarchy In The UK is the best representation of their sound working well and it wouldve been nice to hear more of this
-Pretty Vacant is decent but yeah the album is just kinda okay and very repetitive and not too engaging beyond a couple highlights
Album Notes:
-my last notes got erased so overall this is a very cozy and sad album that immerses you in its cozy and sad world
- homie was down astronomically but he made that feeling very comforting and warm despite its subject matter
Best Tracks: Pink Moon, Place To Be, From The Morning, Things Behind The Sun, Parasite
Worst Tracks: uhhh i guess Harvest Breed and Road just cuz they are so short but they arent bad by any means
Album Notes:
- cute nerdy bops
- weezer of the 50s
- raw sound but stands out for its time
- That'll Be The Day is a certified bop
- i like it more knowing more about punk and amateur music
- overall a decent effort
- likable and doesnt overstay its welcome, but still feels just okay in the grand scheme of things
Best Tracks: Oh Boy!, That'll Be The Day, Maybe Baby, Not Fade Away
Worst Tracks: Last Night, It's Too Late
Album Notes:
- great highlights with some middling tracks
- production is very average and safe
- vocals and melodies carry
- When We Were Young and All I Ask are EASILY the best tracks here I love the timeless melodies they have
Best Tracks: When We Were Young, All I Ask
Worst Tracks: Water Under The Bridge, Hello
Album Notes:
- I admire the sounds and production of the album more than whats actually happening
- I enjoy the rawness and simplicity (staples of the post-punk genre)
- some cool groovy parts but holy cow its so noisy and its hard to really make out much of whats happening most of the time I just cant find a whole lot to grab onto when there isnt an obvious groove
- Might need a relisten cuz the spotify version is like 5 tracks longer than the original which really screws up the pacing
- when it works it works, and when it doesnt, i find myself spacing out
- Might give a relisten but for now I feel like it was interesting but not really for me based on how drowned out and repetitive a lot of tracks are
Best Tracks: Mansion, Bombast, Barmy
Worst Tracks: Spoilt Victorian Child, Vixen
Album Notes:
- ISSA CLASSIC
- Idk if much needs to be said this is basically THE concept album
- this guy has daddy and mommy issues
- LET THE KIDS HAVE THEIR PUDDING AND MEAT AT THE SAME TIME!!!
- Seems like part inspired by the downward spiral of Syd Barrett but also a general view on the glamourized rock and roll lifestyle that is often not so glamorous
- I will admit it feels like "this is a concept album 101" which I find to be kinda boring but it also kinda set the groundwork for talking about a lot of these themes of isolation and depression in an era where that wasn't common while infusing their sound with styles of the era in a smart way
- the spotify mix feels kinda quiet ngl i feel like i gotta turn up the volume more than usual
-despite the lowish volume the album is mixed beautifully
- solo on Hey You is excellent love the return to the Brick In The Wall melody and the soaring guitar
-ngl the album has worn off on me a bit. Its still a great album but it's probably not my favorite Floyd record
Best Tracks: Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2, Mother, Young Lust, Hey You, Nobody Home, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell
Worst Tracks: I guess like... Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 1 cuz nothing happens for like 2 minutes but there isn't really a standout "bad" track on the album
Album Notes:
- For being an old jazz record, everything sounds warm and clear despite being a little dusty
- its some classic swing jazz but its very well played and gets me swinging which i assume is its goal plus it has some dynamics between more upbeat tracks more chill songs towards the back end
- enough here to be engaged but also chill enough to throw on in the background
Best Tracks: The Kid From Red Bank, Flight of the Foo Birds, Midnite Blue
Worst Tracks: After Supper
Overall solid blues rock album. Layla is the standout song here as expected. A couple gems that are nice too.
Standout Tracks: Layla, Bell Bottom Blues, I Looked Away, Little Wing
Worst Track: Have You Ever Loved A Woman? ( It just really bored me)
