1001 Albums Summary

This is the first album of my 1001 album journey. honestly couldn’t have started off worse as I’m not a fan of Grunge or hard rock. I’ve not listened to In Utero before, so I was only aware of Heart-Shaped Box and All Apologies. These ended up being the only songs I didn’t mind plus Serve The Servants. For me the rest of the album was just noise.

A great slice of funky soul. As much as I love ‘Walk On By’ and ‘Hyperbolicsyllabicesquedalymistic’, I do feel they are both a couple of minutes too long. Hayes’s version of ‘One Woman’ is great and at a more reasonable length. The long speaking intro to ‘By The Time I Get To Phoenix’ does stop me from revisiting this album.

The first half is very strong with Lively Up Yourself, No Woman, No Cry, Them Belly Full, Rebel Music, So Jah S’eh and Natty Dread. The final few songs aren’t as good but they are still decent songs.

First time hearing this album and it was not what I expected. Features some great ‘boogie-rock’ tunes.

Some good songs but I’m not a fan of Joplin’s screeching.

Not my favourite Radiohead album, too whiny.

First listen for me and I wasn’t a fan. Maps was the only song I really enjoyed.

Another album that has me questioning who put this list together. Would give 2.5 if I could.

An almost perfect album and I’m not that much of a huge fan of NC&TBS. Would give 4.5 if I could.
