Album starts very strong with some great energy in the opening tracks and then get's lost for a bit in generic hip hop sounds and tropes. Andre's eclectic sounds and inventive lyrics keeps the album flowing in between the well known, timeless songs that even your grandparents could enjoy. Killer Mike provides a solid, aggressive contrast in a few spots.

The Bends by Radiohead

Good stuff, I was very familiar with this album, but it was probably almost a decade since I last listened.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 12 2023

catchy tunes, sounds more modern than 1978. I like his voice too, the whole thing feels like an unknown 90s band that someone unearthed in a time capsule. It feels pretty generic if you ignore when it came out, so maybe it was a transitional album for that time period that inspired a bunch of people, don't know. But from this point in time it's not likely blowing anyone away.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor

not really my kind of thing, can appreciate some of the funk.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Jul 14 2023

Wow, the memories. The songs still carry the same energy, it just doesn't resonate in the same way as when I was younger.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Jul 18 2023

Long listen, tried it in 3 sessions with some overlap. Listening by the pool with the sun shining and having a swim maybe enhanced my appreciation. I don't know that if I were working that it would have been inspiring, but probably would have been solid for a coding session.

Crocodiles by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jul 19 2023

solid, but it probably sounds awesome if you were high.

Metallica by Metallica

Really enjoy most of these well known songs, but as an album they start to blend together (maybe that's intentional?) My mind wandered off in the back half as it tends to.
