Rio by Duran Duran
Sep 14 2023
Sep 19 2023

I really enjoy Queen but had never listened to this record completely through. It was quite enjoyable. The guitar riffs really pull you into a lot of these songs. Freddie finds so many ways to show off his unique vocal. Many of the songs are short which I kind of like. There's no need to be overly pretentious with a 15 minute song. They get to the point and they get there with gusto. I can see why this is considered one of their best records.

I'm usually a fan of funk but some of this record was just a bit too experimental for my tastes. You could tell that in some songs, the artists hit a groove and just went with it. Some of it worked but some didn't. The last maybe 3 songs on the record though are really what make it stand out. The guitar in each song is just fantastic and is what pulls the listener back in. I gave this 3 stars because of those last few songs. Otherwise this is a forgettable album with nothing to offer.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Sep 21 2023

I understand why this record was so influential for its time. It's not often that you hear a flute in a rock song. The composition of thr album is really good and the two songs everyone is familiar with are the obvious standouts . For me though there just wasn't enough that wow'd.

Sep 22 2023

This record is an absolute masterpiece. There isn't a bad song on it. It's one of those records that feels like such an experience even time you listen to it. Flawless.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Sep 25 2023

I really enjoyed this record. It's evident how much this record and the tears for fears sound has influenced so many of today's artists. Really well done record that could be released today and still sound relevant to the music of today.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Sep 26 2023

How can you not love this record. It's just such a great vibe and so much fun to listen to. It has songs that grab you but also songs that just exist in the background like a lovely little soundtrack to life.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Sep 27 2023

If you like prog rock then you'll like this record. Best experienced with headphones for full effect.

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Sep 28 2023

There are no bad things to say about this record.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Sep 29 2023

Giving this 2 stars solely for the musicality and instrumental arrangement. But Nick Caves vocals are such a drag. I don't get the appeal.

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Oct 05 2023

It was somewhat bland. Nothing really happened.

Maverick A Strike by Finley Quaye
Oct 06 2023

There were a few standouts on the record. The record is very mid/late 90s underground vibe which was fun.

Sound Affects by The Jam
Oct 09 2023

When I think of records that are on a list with the bold title of "listen to before you die" this is just not one I would've regretted not listening to. There was nothing there. Nothing that seemed innovative for its time, nothing that sparked any kind of emotion. Snoozefest.

Wild Gift by X
Oct 11 2023

I really enjoyed this. Fun punk rock jams that really grabbed my attention. Lots of standout songs on this record. Very well done.

Dog Man Star by Suede

It's a shame these guys weren't a bigger name. This record was pretty great. I'd never heard of them before this but really enjoyed this album. Fun mid 90s brit alt similar to the likes of oasis and blur. Very good stuff.
