charmingly awful vocals
with new york city cops - 4
with when it started - 4.5
helpless, woodstock, countrygirl, and everybody I love you - unavailable on spotify :(
what was available was sonically dense and rootsy, something I could see enjoying in a family setting or at a reunion.
was surprised at how much I enjoyed, but not something i would regularly listen to
cried multiple times while listening to this, learning more about nick drake through later searches just made it even more emotionally potent.
i normally don't listen to folk music, but this album is undeniably special. this definitely isnt something you could listen to every day or have in regular rotation, but god is it good. i cant wait to listen to the rest of his discography.
rest in peace nick drake.
my east coast bias comes into play heavily on this album, but it's almost impossible to deny the raw energy that ice cube captured on the highs of this album.
the unfortunate relics of sexism and thin veils of anti semitism on some songs leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, however i feel it is more valuable to explore the causes of such prejuidice than posture about it from the future. do your own research on the history of the persecution of african americans and draw your own conclusions.
what lies beneath is one of the most well produced and provocative albums in hip hop history, something ice cubes early run exemplified.
this album just reinforced that ska really isnt my thing. the group shows obvious musical talent but i just wasnt a fan unfortunately.
fuck morrissey, still one of the best albums ever made
it’s okay, not really my thing
not my thing, glad i tried it but i cant say anything stuck with me. i do really like the album art
classic funky soul, fun listen but nothing stood out to me compared to something like al green
jack antonoff's production does almost nothing for me, however lorde's vocal performance and thoughtful lyricism save this album from the dustbin of genericism and propel it to places that i hadnt expected.
i adore this album, having spent lots of time with it during the pandemic years. maybe im clouded by nostalgia, but the soaring choruses really get me in my feelings. some lyrics border on corny, but work in the context of a modern pop album.
inoffensive, fine enough while its on. maybe im biased from growing up in the rural south but i find this album pretty fun.
17 minute songs are cool and all but not when they suck
funky, soulful, everything i like about music
Very boring and derivative. Not terrible but not anything I'd want to listen to regularly.
