1001 Albums Summary

I was surprised at how much I liked this. I have him mixed up in my head with Nick Cave, so his voice and the melodies (and the flute!) were absolutely not what I was expecting. I’m going to listen to this one again for sure.

I listened to this as I walked to coop and it was okay --an album that I ahve never really connected to, but there were a few songs that I really enjoyed! Some awful cheap rhymes tho hahahah

She has an amazing voice and her songwriting witticisms are unusual and often special— and yet I just can’t connect to these songs properly. She is such a personality that it gets in the way. Like Taylor Swift, she makes no room for anyone else in her stories, and for me that’s ok for a while, then ultimately makes me tired— it’s like having to pay attention to someone for too long.

I listened to it on repeat today for over 2 hours and I can’t remember one song. Something about a scientist? Not one for me.

I liked the last song in particular, but not sure I’ll listen again. The songs were so short! Glad I listened though.

I liked this a lot then read the Wikipedia page about it and I just cannot condone a sympathetically cast story about a middle aged man trying to take the virginity of a fourteen-year-old child.
