Tidal by Fiona Apple
Oct 06 2023

Very cool album. Fiona Apple is at her best with the more bombastic/weird tracks. Album kind of slows down for me on the B Side. Though she's got an incredible voice and has a consistently great grand piano sound throughout. great orchestration. in some of the songs as well. Highlights Include: The First Taste Criminal Carrion

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Oct 09 2023

Noisy and bombastic, my first real listen to Sonic Youth and my opinion is that experimentation is experimental, and every ones not gonna like it. I appreciate different and weird music, but this is just too hard for my ears(timbre0wise not necessarily arrangement) . Some really cool riffs along the way though. Highlights Include: Cross the Breeze Candle

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Oct 10 2023

Kanye's personal life aside, this album is a really great album with almost every song being one to remember. The first half of the album is non-stop in this idea, although I would say that it slows down in the second half a little bit. All culminating in the final 12 minute ballad where Kanye explains his whole story over a beat. A little self indulgent. But Kanye exhibits all the Kanye things here we will see to grow throughout his career, like talking over a beat. Like gospel inspired beats and lyrics. And just plain old good beats.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Oct 11 2023

Amy displays her amazing voice this whole album. I didn't feel like many songs stood out particularly, but it felt like an intimate hour inside Amy's head. With personal lyrics sung in a way only Amy could, over some jazzy and R&B soundscapes. Bouncing between giving this 3 or 4 stars. relisting making me want to give this 4. Something made me want to jump right back in after finishing it.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Oct 12 2023

Not my favorite kind of music to listen to. A little too abrasive for my taste. that being said I cant deny the musicianship from this band, and enjoyed some of what I listened to. I'm sure with more listens this album would grow on me.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Oct 13 2023

Listening through this album made it clear to me how talented the members of Metallica really are. A well made concept album all the way through. The instrumentation, although sounding similar, has its intricacy's. I just don't personally emotionally engage with the music. Same thing happened with the Alice In Chains album Dirt. It just didn't connect with me as much as some other stuff. That being said i did appreciate the album and listening all the way through did give me a better understanding of their music. But I'm rating these off of a mixture of overall quality and personal taste, but mostly personal taste. Highlights Include: Eye of The Beholder One To Live Is To Die

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Oct 16 2023

This album surprised me. I went into it thinking I was just going to have to get through it. But ended up actually really liking it. This is a fun album filled with fun beats and plenty of 80's synths. Highlights Include: Girls Just wanna have fun. time After Time She Bop

The Cars by The Cars
Oct 17 2023

Pretty generic rock, but a lot of classics on this album. Generic isn't bad, but just nothing that popped out. Did what it set out to do which was a fun sing along rock album. Can't complain.
