Very fun and very funky. I love the drumming and style on this. Some of the songs drag on a bit but overall I enjoyed it a lot.
Favorite(s): Let's Start, Ye Ye De Smell
Least favorite(s): there's only four tracks but maybe Black Man's Cry if I had to pick?
First two tracks are super good, kinda loses me a bit in the middle. The energy is nice but some the lyrics are questionable
Favorite(s): Straight Outta Compton, Fuck Tha Police, Express Yourself
Obviously a landmark album. The lyrics are pure poetry and I love the jazzy influence throughout the album. I was also struck by how many different ways Kendrick uses his voice on this record. This album is brilliant, but I don't see myself coming back to it often (maybe because I'm just not a big fan of rap in general).
Favorite(s): These Walls, Alright, i
What a beautiful fucking album.
Favorite(s): 15 Step, Nude, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, All I Need, Reckoner, Videotape
Honestly, kind of boring to me.
Favorite(s): Monday, Music for the Last Couple
Nice little comfortable album. Not the kind of music I listen to a lot, but I like it.
Favorite(s): River Man, Day is Done, Fruit Tree
Fun zany album, but doesn't feel like anything particularly special. The vocals get a bit grating on some songs. Also the slur on Oliver's Army hit me like a truck. The songs are very catchy, though, there's almost a carnival-like aesthetic throughout which is fun.
Favorite(s): Accidents Will Happen, Senior Service, Green Shirt, Goon Squad, (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding
Solid. A few bangers.
Favorite(s): Waitin' for the Bus, Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers, La Grange
I wish I could've seen this live. This album is a lot of fun, especially the call-and-response scream thing on Lost Someone.
Favorite(s): I'll Go Crazy, Try Me, Think, Lost Someone, Medley
I like the hits, maybe because I grew up with them, but the second half falls off a bit for me.
Favorite(s): Rolling in the Deep, Turning Tables, Set Fire to the Rain
Cool album. I think I like the second half better than the first.
Favorite(s): What Have I Done To Deserve This, It's a Sin, I Want to Wake Up, King's Cross
Most of the beats are really catchy, but some I didn't really like. Lots of skits that are kind of weird but funny? I did not realize deez nuts was a thing 30+ years ago.
Favorite(s): Let Me Ride, Nuthin' But A "G" Thang, Lil' Ghetto Boy, Lyrical Gangbang, The Roach
As the album progressed, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.
Favorite(s): Glad, Freedom Rider, Empty Pages, Every Mother's Son
Unfortunately, this was just kind of boring to me.
Favorite(s): Red Rain, Mercy Street
This album is cool. Groovy, but sad, when I read the lyrics and background of the album. I like the second half more than the first.
Favorite(s): Luv N' Haight, Family Affair, You Caught Me Smilin', Time, Runnin' Away, Thank You for Talkin' to Me, Africa
I love this album. The first two tracks punch you so hard. All of the guitar riffs are just so catchy, I love when the vocalist just goes crazy, this is just super tight and super energetic.
Favorite(s): Debaser, Tame, Wave of Mutilation, Here Comes Your Man, Dead, Monkey Gone to Heaven, Mr. Grieves, There Goes My Gun, Hey, Gouge Away
It's fine, but not too memorable for me.
Favorite(s): Relax, San Jose, The Ballad of 32
Very nice and comfortable album.
