To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Oct 06 2023

Lol alright. One my personal faves already, recently listened to this and it's aged like fine wine. Happily listen to this bad boy

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Oct 09 2023

The story telling and instrumentals really stood out to me, especially in "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again". No idea what it means, but I like it. Really the only song I could see in my rotation, didn't love the album as a whole - Dylan feels repetitive to a non-trained ear

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Oct 11 2023

Very surprised I've never heard of this artist. The second track, "Road," immediately jumped out at me. Quite moody, guitar is fantastic, and a mysterious voice. Especially on "things behind the sun" This really sparks an interest in giving this album another few listens. Seems like there's a lot of hidden details and an exciting rabbit hole to dive in :)

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Oct 13 2023

Fuuuunky! Wasn't expecting this genre today, but it is 100% welcome. Give up the funk is iconic. It's a nice feeling to throw on an album not knowing anything, then realizing "We want the funk" was on here. This album's use of backup vocals and echoes made me think of D'Angelo's "Black Messiah" - love that sound. Likely not going to be in my rotation, but love to explore!

Classic! I really wish I could hear the singles off this album for the first time again. But enjoyed hearing it as a whole regardless. One that really caught my attention was "Of Moons, Birds & Monsters". Despite the lack of an Oxford comma in the title, this was was great!

Absolutely strange sound, especially vocals! Baby's on Fire. A few tracks in here I would return to, but probably not joining my rotation

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Nov 16 2023

Although I didn't love this album, I did have a fun time exploring some of Costello's hits afterwards. Some songs just struck a lovely chord - added a few to my rotation. Top song was "The Long Honeymoon"
