Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver

How have I never heard of Jane Weaver? 3 tracks in, this is RIGHT up my alley. It appears as though Modern Kosmology isn't even one of her bigger releases, it gets only a sentence in her (admittedly sparse) wiki bio. I'll definitely take a deeper dive.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers

One of my all time faves. Top 10 fo sho. When I was 17, I went to a house party in the sticks. I remember sitting half in a closet in a bedroom full of kids, cranking this album, getting high as hell and singing along at the top of our lungs. Apache Rose Peacock was a highlight. Hearing it takes me right back. Loved that time, loved this album. 1000 stars.

I like it. Parts reminded me a little of LCD Soundsystem, sometimes The Black Keys. It definitely evokes an era, didn't even need to look to know it was the aughts. I really liked The Electric Feel, Kids, and Of Moons, Birds & Monsters; all are worth another listen. Pieces of What was the only one I had to skip.

Who doesn't want a big big love

It seems like I should dig Oasis, I just don't. Never did. IDK, maybe The Bends, I Should Coco and the debut of Foo Fighters set an impossibly high bar for rock and roll in 95.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire

Eh, it was alright.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Oct 19 2023

Definitely had friends with this poster in their bedroom. I do like Pink Floyd but a lot of their songs were... not ruined, exactly, but "compromised" by being overplayed to death on classic rock radio for the past 40 years. The title track here being one of the very worst offenders. It's like sonic wallpaper now. As far as Pink Floyd's long form stuff, Animals was way better. Have a Cigar is great though. 2 stars.

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Oct 20 2023

Elvis Costello is a treasure. Truly unique. Didn't appreciate his music as a kid (dumb kid) but have since learned to be better.

I love Sgt Pepper's- it is evenly tied with Abbey Road for my absolute favorite Beatles album. The Beatles are tied with Ween as my all time favorite bands to ever exist on Earth. It's gonna be a Good Morning Good Morning.

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega

I tried, but female singer songwriters are just not my jam.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz

Love it. Smooth and soothing, great to have on in the background while I unwind from a hard day.
