Fear Of Music
Talking HeadsWill take time to get into this. Feels more like a groove and a feel than identifiable great songs at first listen.

That was all right. Didn't really like the opener, but something about the clean tones and sparsity worked for me by the end. Might put it on in the background. Can't quite give it a 4 so...
I mean, it's OK although sometimes comes across as sub Beatles. Apparently this is their magnum opus but sounded a bit dated an unmemorable. After the album finished, Spotify fired up its general 60's follow up tracks and tbh I was enjoying them more. No doubt it was a 4 back in its day, now...
Liked this a lot when it came out. Now it seems very long and the opening tracks before you get into the really famous stuff do bang on a lot. I would give this a 3.5 but since that's not an option, it's a 3 again which is a bit harsh but I can't give it a 4. I think the truth of it is that I'm not that bothered about the Chilli Peppers. Ho hum.
Quite the album opener and closer. Two absolute bona fide world class classics. I also enjoyed Monkey Man which I wasn't aware of which is pretty damn good. Yes it's dated again (I feel like this list is in itself maybe a bit dated?) but gonna give this a 4.
This is probably a rather lovely record if you're into that sort of thing and he has a nice voice. Apparently Bob Dylan called For A Spanish Guitar one of the finest songs ever written. Problem is, it's not my kind of thing. It never charted significantly outside of Holland. Is this really in the top 1001 albums of all time?
She's terribly good, I get it but I don't understand why this list keeps on pulling the Champions League albums of artists careers instead of the pinnacles. I mean it's nice but it's not my thing and it's a unfocused first listen
Foundational and classic. One of the most important rock records of all time. Can only be a 5
Classic. Yes it's dated. Yes it gets a 5.
The Clash were, when on for, absolutely fantastic, but then I find they are pretty variable too. Some of the best here is great and some is forgettable outside its era. Scrapes a 4.
Stone cold classic from one of Britain's most important female singer songwriters. If she hadn't been so true to following the beat of her internal drum, she could have been even bigger but instead she's truly been an artist, (and an artist's artist), making what she felt had to be made. Check out Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea as her most accessible album which contains a lot about her love affair with Nick Drake.
Well, what a novel listening experience that I never would have listened to otherwise but clearly the talent is undeniable and I can see why it's very good and hugely popular. Cognitive dissonance something something.
A bit of a schizo RH album which recovers some of the guitar led more rock content of their earlier days in some of the strongest songs like There, There and 2+2 = 5 and yet has others which are out of the Kid A / Amnesiac vein. But for lack of overall coherency (and tbh who cares) there's still much that shines much more brightly than any contemporary including one of my favourite RH songs, Sail The Moon, written by Thom Yorke for his baby son at the time.
Smooth. Like being bummed in the gob with premium butter.
Very solid album of its era but not my cup of tea. It's provably a 4 less a 1 for personal taste.
Never listened to much Wire although I know they're influential. Punks who could write. Very era-ish but still got something. 3.5?
I love the shit out of this album; the end.
This is a super influential / seminal album in the history of rock and soul music. The band is tight af and Brown's voice is amazing. But would I listen to it again? Doubt it. 4 for the history.
The emporers new clothes was an interesting idea once upon a time too. Utterly irrelevant and little artistic merit once you take away what was probably the shock of the new at the time. There is no way this is in the top 10,001 albums of all time, let alone 1,001. The beard weirdly dated nature of this play list keeps on coming through.
Love a bit of Blur. While it might not have as many catchy hits as some of the others, with exception of The Banger that is song 2, it has more depth. It's a really good album and given the lack of nuance in the scoring system, vs other things I've given a 4 to, this gets a...
Really pretty good. Very high quality. Enjoyed that.
Given he was off his chump on coke and doesn't remember anything of the sessions, he sounds in fine form and the band were top notch too. 4.5.
Good discovery
You are kidding me this is in the most essential 1,001 albums to listen to before you die. When was this list created ffs?
