Bummed
Happy MondaysI dropped out before the first song finished. This is rough.

I gave up roughly a third of a way through the album. It's got small moments I like but as a whole it's too experimental for me.
It's impossible to not tap your feet to the funk. Some of the songs go a little too long for my tastes, but man, there's nothing you can really say is bad or wrong here. I've maybe heard Give Up The Funk before. Samples from it at least. 4.5/5
The greatest standout here is Kanye West's production. This album and especially songs like Takeover and Izzo are finely crafted to perfection. The music is also great. Some fun instrumentals, beats, melodies, and samples. I'm not a huge fan of Jay-Z's voice despite the obvious talent on display. His casual presentation of some clever wordplay is cool and often funny but not really my style. I went in skeptical but the first several songs were winning me over. The latter half of the album isn't as consistent. Eminem and the song Renegade were solid but surrounded by stuff that never reached the earlier songs' heights. 4/5 for the music and strong opening songs.
Very strong 4.5/5. I think the melodies or maybe lack thereof keep throwing me off. Like I expect a song to go one direction and don't know how I feel about where it goes instead.
My Generation: 3/5 but just barely The rest of the album: 1/5 This is the worst version of My Generation I've heard.
The chillest hip hop. It's good, but not for me.
I have a terrible feeling that these lyrics are going to be timeless. Who Got The Camera might be the best due to how hard it leans into the message. Today Was a Good Day will always be great too.

Birdland is fantastic. The rest didn't do much for me. I think fusion jazz might not be my thing.
Objectively, this seems to deserve to be on the 1001 list. Some of the backing instrumentals are solid. But man, I don't like soul. I dropped out on the third song.
I don't dislike it, but as far as folk goes, this is very standard. I expect I'll have forgotten this by tomorrow.
This might have okay lyrics but David Berman's voice turned me off the music so fast I didn't bother even finishing the first song.
After an incredible opening set of songs like Captain Stupido, this album fell pretty hard and fast. All the songs bled into each other with the same sound and feel and even the (very talented) featured artists couldn't save some of the better songs. I had really high hopes after the first five minutes or so. Real shame nothing met those expectations. 4/5 for some obvious talent and the general weirdness of it all, but it wasn't enough to win me over. 1.5/5.
Insane how perfect this is.
Something about Mis-Shapes is so familiar despite never hearing this album or any song on it before. It's Bowie esque? I don't think any part of the album hits a 5/5 for me, moments reach 4/5 but it's mostly around a 3/5.
Baba O'Riley is a classic. The rest of the tracks have never stood out in the same way and I'll forget them before the night is over.
Brighton Rock has some of the most impressive vocals in any Queen song. Killer Queen is maybe top 5 Queen songs ever. Now I'm Here is great. Stone Cold Crazy is intense. Misfire is so cheery sounding. And Bring Back Leroy Brown is so fun and bouncy. I think those make up for the "lesser" 4/5 songs that make up the rest of the album. 5/5 overall.
I don't dislike it, but I don't know if I like it either. It's very different and familiar all at once.
Kinda neat as a sort of Beatles-Album-That-Never-Was, but nothing I would come back to again and again.
