Suprisingly good. Much more melodic and lyrically interesting than I expected. A new down load from me.
The melodies are at times sweet and other times rough, juxtaposed with Young's unique vocals gives this album an unmistakable sound.
This has funk, soul and blues. Infact a possibilty of 500 types of the blues!
Vocally spot on. Sweet voice, pitch perfect. Musically, tight and melodic. What lets this album down is there is almost no veriation in the tracks. Because of this I found it to be a dull album.
Not being a Jazz guy my initial thoughts on hearing this album is 'What a racket!'. But from a jazz perspective, I recognise the skillful use of jazz chord progression, use of scales and the complicated beat. Despite all of this my first statement of not being a jazz guy still holds truth for me. If I never hear this album again it will be a bonus.
Just sublime. Perfectly crafted with the all time classic Wish You Were Here. All knitted together with the beats from Mason, and the sublime tone from Gilmour. A well crafted album telling the greed of the music industry.
A rather upbeat cheery album. Even the last track mentioning voilence to women?! Not as psychedelic as I was aticipating but that isn't a subraction. Overall a pleasant listen but with nothing which stands out.
Musically spot on, giving a feeling of nostalgia in places and in others uplifting whilst still being able to be melancholic. The quirky lyrics; which in the title track Sail Away could be thoughtbof as racist; are delivered with Newman's Disney recognisable voice. Heavily American and too sickly sweet for me.
Classic.
A thoughtful album full of deep sad lyrics. The tempo never really gets above grass growing speeds. But there are times when that is what is required. So this may not be an album for everyday listening, but those times when love has gone, crops haven't grown and your dog has died then this is the album you need.
A bit dated now.
A bit 'samey' all the way through to my ears. But in little chunks it's pleasant enough.
Country music has evolved so much and has left this album so far behind it could be buried with a stegosaurus!
Just awful whining to my ears. And then knowing the comments he has gone on to make, force this album straight into the fire pit of doom!
This band has a loyal following but they're boring to me.
No way. Not my stuff.
