Aftermath
The Rolling StonesI have such a heavy bias against The Stones - I find Mick Jagger insufferable and the music uncompelling. Misogynistic at best and unlistenable at worst. I appreciate the innovation to the scene but I’ll leave it there.

It feels very contradictory to call myself a music lover while having never dived into Bob Dylan's work before - it's all very intimidating and his work comes on a pedestal that makes it hard for me to be unbiased. The bluesy first half this record is a hard listen for me, the folksy back half is certainly more of my cup of tea. The harmonica feels less harsh in the acoustic setting for some reason. I wonder what I'm not seeing - none of these songs are familiar to me so while there is no nostalgic cloud of vision, there is also a missing historical context that reading a wikipedia article just doesn't fill. I'm not sure I'd reach for this album again, but I sure appreciate it's existence. Best track: It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
Hard to believe this is a pre-9/11 album. So fresh and undeniably fun - in retrospect has had an immeasurable influence on the scene. No faults
Walking through the city on my way to work, sun in my eyes and suddenly life is so much better because of this record. Frank Sinatra has a way of making the world feel so much smaller in the best way possible - I am in love in the same way you are in love!!!
5: Feels wrong to listen to this without a cold beer in hand. Instantly fell in the love with this record - it’s going on heavy rotation. I found myself singing along to the hooks by the 2nd chorus, and humming melodies long after the album was over.
Taylor Swift was right when she said I don’t have to pretend to like acid rock.
being gay is a gift, and i want to dance!!
To be honest, my only previous exposure to Brian Eno was the work he did with Coldplay. I’d always thought of him as a musical genius and said that “one day” I’d listen to Music for Airports. Glad that this is on the list - even though ambient music isn’t my thing (I fought many times with myself to skip to the next track when the repetition was getting to me), I found an appreciation for the art of minimalism and restraint. I don’t know if I’ll come back to this one though.
Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Will have to come back to it again one day and see if my opinion changes.

I'll be the first to go and bat for Coldplay - there are legitimate critiques in terms of how their sound has evolved over time but its hard to deny how strong their first two albums are. AROBTTH is soft rock pop perfection - whether you appreciate it or not, the hooks continue to hook.
Easiest 5 stars yet. Paul Simon is a genius and it’s an honour to get to listen to his work.
I’ve been U2-adjacent for most of my life, and Sunday Bloody Sunday has been a favourite of mine since Paramore covered them years back. Such a solid record.
I’m so indifferent about this one. Not a lot to love but none to hate either.
I’m probably too young to understand the Elvis Costello lore and that’s okay. His voice is grating enough to be unenjoyable to my hear, but the way he crafts his voice is undoubtedly interesting. Voice as the instrument etc etc. Not for me but clearly a pioneer and I can’t knock that. Probably won’t be returning to listen anytime soon. Also Olivia Rodrigo/her collaborators were very clearly inspired by the Pump It Up riff for Brutal.
Hell yeah, this record is FUN. It’s absolutely all over the place, but the energy pulsing through the veins is electric. Have to knock a star for how jarring all of these songs sound together on one record but there are some bangers in the mix. Jazz rock absolutely bangs. Solid 4
loved it
the highs are so incredibly high, that the lower tracks feel more lacklustre than they actually are. really solid work across the board, and an excellent album. in reality this is a 4.5 star.
