1001 Albums Summary

I would describe myself as a metal/prog-rock lover. While there has been some pretty good albums on this list up til now, this album is truly worth listening to! (I listened to it twice on a row) This is also the first album on the 1001 list that I downloaded for permanent “rotation” for my ears enjoyment…

Always a great album, with a variety of music styles/mixes. Rick Rubin is a master. Without this album, who knows if rap would have been accepted mainstream. And special cameo from the muthaf***ing Kerry King of Slayer!

Very original band! Hard to quite describe the sound, but brings back some memories of more obscure 80’s bands. Wasn’t sure I’d like it during the first song, but as the album progressed, it grew on me more and more. Will DEFINITELY be listening to it again!

Pretty relaxing and mellow album, with a bit of dub added. Enjoyed the several different singers.

Ute obviously has singing and performing talent. And while a lot of the lyrics and subject matter were entertaining, cabaret/lounge performances are just not my thing. Props to her, but…

The quintessential bossa-nova album. From relaxing at home to hosting a cocktail party, this album is great.

Great album, you can hear how the BB’s matured a bit and went outside the box to allow their sound to evolve. Love the album cover!

Very soulful voice; I knew a lot of her songs, but had no idea it was Dusty.

Total club techno music. A couple songs were good, most were mindless two-note repetition.

I’ve been pretty tolerant up until this point, but here’s one album I gave up on after 3 songs. The “singer” just drolls on without any actually singing, and uses constant reverb. I was hoping the first song was a “one off”… but no. And aside from the occasional 60’s album thrown into the mix, I’m seeing a trend of weird, 90’s music. Hoping for some different genres.

I’m quite a bit familiar with Thin Lizzy’s catalogue, but have never listened to any of their live stuff. I can see why ‘Live and Dangerous’ is recommended. Quite simply: TL was a formidable live act, as heard on this album. Tight, well-rehearsed, and a sonic force to be reckoned with!

Wow! Never had listened to Winehouse before, and didn’t quite know what to expect. What a voice, and what a talent. How do you too a debut album like this? Sadly, her voice is no longer with us…

Great album, and the recording of actual instruments? Practically unheard of. Classic album.

Great voice, great chill vibe to this album. I particularly enjoyed Pyramid, Crack Rock, Lost, Bad Religion and Pilot Jones
