Live! by Fela Kuti
Jan 05 2024

[Ginger Baker brought me here, but Fela Kuti kept me around the place.] Dangerous funky mix! If'n you can't dance to this mess, you are D-E-A-D! I suspect this music, administered in prodigious quantities with my wife's homemade borscht, could BRING BACK the dead! Dude can play the shit outta' that baritone sax, too! This band is old-school tight, something that I really don't hear in today's bands. The percussion section really brought the house down! I strongly suspect that pop musicians around the world secretly listen to this band, and dream what their music could actually become... If you want to hear a boatload of great musicians come together to make extraordinarily danceable music, Fela Kuti is right up your alley...

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Jan 06 2024

IMHO, this is one of Sir Elton's best albums. I've always felt that his early albums (the first half-dozen or so) were TRULY comprised of his intricate inner workings. 'Tumbleweed Connection' was the album that really did it up for me.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jan 09 2024

I'm not much of a fan of jazz vocalists, but Norah Jones REALLY knocked it out of the park with this album. She seamlessly merges several different musical genres in several of her songs, with great arrangements and her unique bluesy voice.

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Jan 12 2024

A surprisingly rocker of an album. The lead singer (Anansie?) can really belt out the tunes, and seems to be surrounded by a tight musical ensemble. Frankly, I'm amazed these folks didn't get a whole lot more airplay.

Who's Next by The Who
Jan 13 2024

Dear Gods! This entire album defines "masterpiece". For most bands, they'd settle for one or two songs on an album to break into mainstream air play. These lads unleashed an entire album of classic rock hits! Keith Moon beat those drums like a red-headed stepchild!

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Jun 16 2024

This is a masterpiece! I read somewhere that this band singlehandedly ignited the electronic music revolution. If you listen to this album, I suspect you will understand why.
