Dookie by Green Day
Jan 08 2024

Not much here I care to listen. Music from my teen son’s years. Cranberries, Foo Fighters are at top of list. Enjoyed exposure to groups I’d not heard of before.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Jan 09 2024

Definitely a more obscure choice for today’s album. Although classified as folk, there are tunes that are more jazz based or maybe even piano bar. I always enjoy the instrumentals in his works. I had not listened to him in a long time and enjoyed having him brought up in my selection.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 11 2024

Enjoyed all. Very familiar as this is my generation’s music. Inconsistent levels in volume in some songs was disruptive of the vibe.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Jan 12 2024

Most song lyrics not relatable for me. Too repetitive rhythm. Ok for workouts and dance party.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Jan 15 2024

Perfect grand lady to listen to on MLK Day is the USA. Love Ronald Isley and Aretha I had not heard before.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jan 16 2024

Nope. Nada. Not happening to my ears.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Jan 19 2024

I prefer this path of song writing to their albums prior. I found it easy to listen to and understand. Representative of music during its time.

Revolver by Beatles
Jan 23 2024

An appreciation of what the Beatles were creating was wasted on me when their music was popular. I was a young teen in the 70s with an upbringing of bandstand, crooners, country western with a splash of Everly Brothers, Elvis and the like. In listening today, I heard lyrics that now have meaning and evoke emotions for me. I also now fully appreciate the ingenuity and diversity of the arrangements created. Just because it was a studio-only album did not mean they had to stray far from what already “worked” for them in the past. Thank goodness that was never their mindset.

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Jan 25 2024

One of my top favorite artists and album

Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper
Jan 26 2024

Was not exposed to Alice growing up. I now know why I heard it referred to as “Satan’s music. Now, as a very mature adult, I enjoyed the dark and sometimes quirkiness of his lyrics.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Feb 05 2024

While I enjoyed moving to the music, I prefer albums in a language familiar to me.
