Highway to Hell by AC/DC

Pretty, pretty good! I feel like it deserves a 5 based on the very opening of highway to hell (so iconic) but i'm gonna give it a 3 because it doesn't really change vibe at all through the whole disk. Still a mega fan though!

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Jan 08 2024

Amazing alternative/punk/grunge album. Hearing distorted surf rock (Surfer Rosa?) and the influence of bands like the buzzcocks and Husker dü. Love the spoken word and that bones are the topic of the first two tracks. Definitely some weird creative people feeling free to make music! "Gigantic" is a standout and cool to think that "Where is my Mind" had such staying power when it's smack in the middle of the album.

Parklife by Blur
Jan 09 2024

Great album, wide reaching and varied. Didn't make as big of an artistic impact on me as the Pixies album BUT you can see how this guy became such an important producer. The coolest part for me was probably reaching about Damon Albarn and hearing how he started Gorillaz. What an amazing dude~!

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Jan 10 2024

JAY Z is not a good rapper. BUT! He is extremely confident and writes some true bangerz. I was personally offended by the Nas diss track and fall fully on the Nas side of their beef, so that might have something to do with it...VAMOOSE MOTHAFUCKA!

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Jan 11 2024

This album is honestly incredible. Confessional style, super relatable. It's no wonder it became a hit. Didn't start the style (after Liz Phair, Melissa Etheridge) but definitely perfected it. This is a style of songwriting at it's best and there are like 100 hits on this shit.

I feel like I need to give this a closer listen. Had it on in the background at work and it was super pleasant but I've only dug in a little to what makes it great. Interesting part is that it's a Country western album with a big band, but the songs are so obviously country songs/themes. Can't wait to dig in again. It will prob get a higher rating next time. I think I like disc 2 better.

Be by Common
Jan 16 2024

This is a pretty solid album and has some nostalgia for me. Common is super soulful but sometime his rhymes really fall flat. Def a chill time though!

The Libertines by The Libertines
Jan 18 2024

Kind of liked it but wasn't blown away!

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Jan 24 2024

I hated parts of this and loved other parts. Great sounds in general, though

Rio by Duran Duran
Jan 29 2024

Smell like I sound, I'm lost in a crowd And I'm hungry like the wolf Mouth is alive, with juices like wine And I'm hungry like the wolf Next, we start a Duran Duran cover band. This album ROCKS

Highway to Hell by AC/DC

Pretty, pretty good! I feel like it deserves a 5 based on the very opening of highway to hell (so iconic) but i'm gonna give it a 3 because it doesn't really change vibe at all through the whole disk. Still a mega fan though!

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra

Hot fire from Frank. I have this album on vinyl and spin it probably more than anything else in my collection. HOT FUEGO!
