Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Jan 08 2024

Ana: all of them (the songs) are pretty cool. I kinda of want to rest, but it doesn’t help. This drum part is my favorite (“Oh My Golly”). It’s (“Where’s My Mind”) kinda funny, sometimes it makes me laugh.

Parklife by Blur
Jan 09 2024

Fun (“Parklife”). This is too fast I like it so much (“Bank Holiday”). I feel funny (“London Loves”).

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Jan 11 2024

Jeremy: “YEU YEU YEU… oughta KNOOO”. Queen of the 90s. Easy 5 stars. Ana: Yeah it’s really good, I felt really still then really surprised. Her voice is awesome so good actually. Papa it’s about feelings! I feel it!

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Jan 15 2024

Leonard, Leonard, Leonard. Rarely do celebrity deaths feel personal but his did, and I only ever heard his songs. “There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in,” though not from this record, might as well be a motto for the Olsens, and I feel is emblematic of this dance in Cohen’s lyrics between a veiled judgement of people’s idiosyncrasies (and especially his own) and a warming kindness towards persons. He’s searching, anxious for a transcendent thing, but certain that if it will come it will be from within (or by understanding the other in a deeper way). Ana: peaceful. Sad, really sad.

Be by Common
Jan 16 2024

Ana: Peaceful and exciting. Thoughtful hip hop hell yeah.

Green by R.E.M.

“Classic and funny. I love it.” - Ana One of my favorite records ever. Top 20 album. David Byrne’s modern eccentric everyman lyrics and stage presence and danceable punk instrumentation are what made LCD Soundsystem possible. I’m also always surprised this record was made in the 70s, it really is a precursor to later 80s and 90s music trends

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Jan 24 2024

Ana: “classic funny silly exciting and funny.” “Crazy.” “A little scary at times with the Thunderstorm but exciting.” Great stuff but feels a little derivative of even better stuff out there in blues and rock but I appreciate the dipping of the toe in funk. I am a sucker for gritty blues roots rock ala “Been down so long” so I probably gave it an extra star for that.

Bossanova by Pixies
Jan 25 2024

Such a strong alt rock record.

Rio by Duran Duran
Jan 29 2024

Banger after banger after banger

Jan 31 2024

Didn’t stand out to me, especially considering D’Angelo was making music around the same time

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Feb 02 2024

“Oh wow this is really peaceful.” “I don’t have any feelings for this one” (Cold!) - Ana I do love this era in American music, just such tight songwriting. Iconic voice, as problematic as the human behind it seemed to be. Hadn’t heard this record, and I really enjoyed the melancholy and blue feels. Although I’m not sure it really stands out against other records of it’s time for me.

Exit Planet Dust by The Chemical Brothers
Feb 07 2024

Seems like a good record just not my favorite genre.
