Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Jan 17 2024

Day #1: Nilsson - Nilsson Schmilsson "Harry Edward Nilsson III (June 15, 1941 – January 15, 1994), sometimes credited as Nilsson, was an American singer-songwriter who reached the peak of his success in the early 1970s. His work is characterized by pioneering vocal overdub experiments, a return to the Great American Songbook, and fusions of Caribbean sounds. Nilsson was one of the few major pop-rock recording artists to achieve significant commercial success without performing major public concerts or touring regularly" Decent album, classic pop-rock with clear McCartney influence. "Without You" seems to be a fan favourite, but I enjoyed "Gotta Get Up" and "Jump Into the Fire" (with its interesting drum solo) more.

Day #2: Live At The Harlem Club - Sam Cooke Samuel Cook (January 22, 1931 – December 11, 1964), known professionally as Sam Cooke, was an American singer and songwriter. Considered one of the most influential soul artists of all time, Cooke is commonly referred to as the "King of Soul" for his distinctive vocals, pioneering contributions to the genre, and significance in popular music" Excellent performance - fun, energetic, uplifting. Love the Southern Soul sound. Highlights are "Bring It On Home to Me," "Cupid's Arrow" and "Chain Gang"
