BANGERRRRR
Didn't listen to it super hard but I'm just not a fan of pop rock. More than a feeling is awesome though.
Shit bangs. Chameleon slaps. 9/10
Listened to this already. Classic. Not much to say that hasn't been said already.
There's some classics on here: Longview - Classic but I don't like the lyrics. Welcome to Paradise Basket Case In all though its okay. The other tracks are fine and I really just don't like pop punk all that much.
Holy FUCK title track is insane. The dissonant piano solo is incredible. Drive-In Saturday is awesome Time is a stand-out. Super good glam piano rock I'm fucking with this HEAVY I LOVE The Prettiest Star. Doo-wop-ey. Great shit Let's Spend the Night Together is very fun. Great energy from the piano and drums. The Jean Genie is definitely a low on this album. Still solid but somewhat repetitive without much interesting going on. Lady Grinning Soul is beautiful. Soft acoustic guitar coupled with a subtle yet dazzling piano. Holy fuck. Didn't know Let's Spend the Night Together was a Stones song. Cool Need to listen again but after first listen it is a SOLID 9/10.
Don't listen to much Queen nor do I care for them that much but maybe this album will change that. Death On Two Legs - Meh Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon sounds like this one Spongebob song I can't place it. AH: The FUN song. Spongebob wipes. I'm In Love With My Car - Deserves ALL the hate it gets if it gets any You're My Best Friend - Classic song that I don't really give a shit about but it's not a bad song. '39 - Wow I like this one! Nice acoustic guitar ballad Sweet Lady - No Seaside - Ok The Prophet's Song - Sounds kind of like a Yes song surprisingly. I actually like this a lot. The acapella section is extremely creative and I love how it shifts between channels. This is some great mf prog. Love of My Life - BANGER. Forgot this song was next so the transition was great. This album saved itself. God I LOVE the vocal layering on this song. Good Company - Fuck this song. I'm sorry its another Spongebob-ass song that ruined such a good three-track run from TPS - LoML - BH. Its fine though just I don't like the uke. Bohemian Rhapsody - I mean come on; this is one of those "litmus test songs" where if you don't like it, there's something terribly wrong with you. While this song is already great, the best way to listen to this song is by belting it out with a shit ton of other people that also know the song, preferably hammered. Just a fun iconic song that deserves the credit it gets. God Save The Queen - Hella British. Probably politically charged lol After 1 listen my opinion has somewhat been changed. I went into this thinking I wouldn't like it and that BH was the only worthwhile listen on this LP, and I was wrong. I still don't think it's amazing or anywhere near amazing (other than BH and LoML) and some of the songs piss me off, but it's a good album at the end of the day. Ok lazing on a sunday afternoon has its place. It's like that one friend that is entertaining half the time but god awful annoying the other half. Solid album. Definitely helped shift my perspective a bit. Solid 7.5/10
Never heard of this before. Didn't do a lot for me when I first put it on but I actually now like this a good amount. I think it's relatively bottom heavy which is super rare of an album IMO. Triangle Walks, Concrete Walls, and Keep the Streets Empty for Me stand out a good amount. I surprisingly don't have a lot of love for the main singles If I Had A Heart and When I Grow Up. Both good songs I just don't find them too memorable. This is perfect driving around the city at 2 AM music and I'm very excited to drive again just to put this album on. 6.75/10
Initially surprised at Cohen's voice. Did more research and realized Cohen died three weeks after the release of this album. The theming and lyrics gave me a similar vibe as Blackstar so I wasn't too surprised. It even came out in the same year (2016). It's helped me open my mind more to this album and so far I am happy I have. Jesus I'm not usually inspired to read the lyrics of an album all too much but this is an exception. Beautiful stuff, especially before his passing. Hauntingly beautiful. Gonna go listen to the new MGMT album but I'll be back to this for a second listen. This is some great shit. In all, I am a bit drunk right now, but this album is amazing. The lyrics are deep and poignant while sticking to interesting and beautiful instrumentals. Solid 9/10. Surprised this doesn't get more hype.
Never heard of this too. Looks like fun. Most Anything You Want - Catchy I like it Flowers and Beads - Ooo I like this. A corny dumb love song in the best 60s way possible. Good chord progression too. The rest is fine. The title track is cool but I don't care all that much. Never been too much of an acid-rock person and this stuff is like fine. 5.5/10
Not really vibing with this. Cliche dad rock with uninteresting lyrics for the most part. I don't hate Master of Sparks; cool story (kinda) and somewhat fun. Hot, Blue and Righteous sucks IDK I just don't really like blues rock and I'm not feeling this album.
I actually was just gonna listen to this album considering The Killers have a high possibility of performing at OSL. Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine - Bangs Mr. Brightside - How the actual fuck did I used to hate this song Smile Like You Mean It - No thank you! Somebody Told Me - Good; a little dated but fun. All These Things That I've Done - Holy banger. Despite the really awkward placement of this track on this album (like insanely awkward why does this come after somebody told me), this song is incredible. Andy, You're A Star - What a fucking 180 this is awful! The synths sound fucking terrible with the guitar. This guitar riff is ear-grating. On Top - What the fuck. What is this synth lead? Change Your Mind - Fine. Mid songs and then Everything Will Be Alright. God awful closer. Boring ass lyrics with a sluggish instrumental. This album is like that one drawing of the horse that is super detailed until halfway through where it just turns to shit. Or it's like that one quote, "They had us in the first half not gonna lie." Only because of 5 tracks this gets a 6/10.
I fucking love this album. It's so fucking cool. Bought the CD for it a while back at Amoeba. Writing an essay right now for my USEM so I'll throw it on. Safe From Harm - Holy fuck this song is amazing. So catchy. "I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you" What a bar. The bass line is so disgusting too holy god. Quintessential nighttime driving song. (10/10) One Love - Somewhat of a bummer following Safe From Harm but it's a hard follow-up. A very low-key and subtle song that serves its purpose. Not a highlight nor a low point. (7.5/10) Blue Lines - Banger. The clean guitar plucks along with 3D and Tricky whispering rhymes make for such a cool song. (8.5/10) Be Thankful For What You've Got - A worthwhile but somewhat out-of-place cover. Can't help but think it doesn't really flow too well with the general sonic direction of this album. (6.5/10) Five Man Army - Great shit Unfinished Sympathy - Holy fuck for forever I thought this was called Unfinished Symphony. Anyways, this is one of the greatest songs of the 90s and of all time. Just incredible Rest of the album is super solid
BANGERRRRR
Listened to this before. Gas 9/10
