The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Feb 22 2024

These musicians go off sometimes and it's exciting to hear. They sound like they are really having a great time (especially in the first track). I've listened to a small amount of big band, jazzy blues in the past (mostly through the Fallout video game series), but this album lost my interest halfway through. I still finished it, however my heart wasn't in it as much. There's some fun tracks though.

1999 by Prince
Feb 23 2024

At first I didn’t think this was for me but as the album played on, I found myself getting into it. This genre is still not my typical choice but I can see how Prince became as iconic as he was. Intriguing instrumentation, surprisingly explicit lyrics, and a clear passion for wanting people to have fun and dance. It’s definitely intoxicating and I can see how it ended up on this list. I would rate it 3.5/5 stars, but I can’t do halves!

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Feb 26 2024

This is one of my favorite albums! I listened to it for the first time last year and fell for it instantly. Those iconic guitar textures are on another level and the general vibe of the entire album just rocks! A must listen for alternative rock fans. “Mayonaise, “Geek USA,” and “Silverfuck,” are favorites.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Feb 27 2024

I was thinking from Track 1 that I may enjoy this but very quickly it felt repetitive and I wasn’t as into it.

Tommy by The Who
Feb 28 2024

I loved listening to an early rock opera and it was a very creative story. It got repetitive especially towards the end. Some good songs mixed in though.

1984 by Van Halen
Feb 29 2024

Just pure rock from start to finish. Everyone involved knew the assignment. I would give it 4.5/5 stars only because some of the 80’s synth sound isn’t my style and sounds a bit outdated.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Mar 04 2024

I’m just not a fan of The Rolling Stones. Sympathy for the Devil was pretty cool and the clean guitars and slide guitar had a great tone and texture, but the lyrics and overall mood of the album was at best kind of boring and at worst creepy. I understand The Stones are very influential, but I’m not giving with them.

Green by R.E.M.
Mar 15 2024

This has a clear sound and I enjoy parts but I wasn’t a fan of it song to song. So much of it sounded the same and I kept losing focus. Maybe I’m just not into R.E.M. but that’s part of the fun of doing this project. Orange Crush was definitely in a Guitar Hero or something and that brought me back, and Stand is featured in one of the funniest moments in Parks and Rec, so there’s definitely ways this album has endured haha

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Mar 18 2024

Really wonderful! I enjoyed the feeling of being in a club listening to Sarah Vaughan live in concert! The recording was so crisp and her voice was lovely. I’m not super into the jazzy scatting but there was only a bit in this one compared to Louis Prima. Definitely would listen again!

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Mar 19 2024

The sound of Parallel Lines is simultaneously classic and ahead of its time. There were many riffs and melodies that sounded straight out of today. There’s no denying Blondie rocked!

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Mar 21 2024

Nice instrumental jazz. For the most part it created a relaxing vibe while I made dinner. A quick listen too! If you’re interested in jazz there’s no reason to skip it!

Hypnotised by The Undertones
Mar 22 2024

Not too bad. Definitely some fun guitar riffs throughout the whole album. The band doesn’t take themselves too seriously and it sounds like they just had some fun with it.

Mar 26 2024

I really enjoyed this! I think I’m learning I’m into prog rock. Moonchild was cool and also wavered further into the art rock side and lost me just a bit. Overall a really interesting listen with some great musicality!

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 29 2024

This album is pure rock n roll. Just a master fully in control of his instrument. There are some of the most creative riffs and beats in rock music throughout the album. There’s a reason Jimi Hendrix is always at the top of best guitarist lists.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Apr 02 2024

Fantastic from beginning to end. The drums on this album are phenomenal; groovy and full of fills. Guitar riffs that are simultaneously heavy and kinda funky. Just all around great hard rock jammin’!

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Apr 04 2024

I love Beyoncé’s music! I think this album has some bangers and incredible slower emotional songs that she’s known for. Since this album came out, all three albums that she’s made are better than this one but this is still a strong 4!

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Apr 08 2024

Great listen and so short that there’s no reason to skip it. All of the songs have such a nice smooth vibe and never overstay their welcome. An easy, nice album!

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 19 2024

This is an all time rock classic. Stevie’s voice and Lindsay’s guitar riffs are legendary.
