1001 Albums Summary

It's funky and it rocks. I dig it's message of peace, the grooves are irresistible and the musicianship (particularly the live version of Maggot Brain!) is amazing. Maybe it gets a bit too much at times, but for the most part it's great.

Some great songs, some that didn't do much for me. Great voice and great production.

I like the aesthetic, but the songs just don't really stand out to me. There's lots of bluesy garage rock out there that I like more.

Great stuff. You can really tell Metallica took a lot from this album.

I usually love when a band branches into new, more complex or experimental territory, but something about The Who post-My Generation just doesn't do it for me. Nothing wrong with these songs, but they're not to my taste. Keith Moon is an absolute beast on the drums though, consistently the best part of the whole album.

I had fun with this, there's a couple really great tracks.

This album rocked. Francis Black is such an interesting frontman and I just dig their sound. I think Doolittle was a bit more immediately likable for me, but that might just be because I hadn't heard any of these songs before.

Fantastic, some of the best Soul music I've heard. I'll definitely be coming back to this.

It's perfect. Obviously. Half the songs are all-time classics, and the rest is a part of one huge medley that is itself an all-time classic. Best songwriting, production and pacing in perhaps any 60s album. Unbeatable.
