Fun album.
Best basslines made the best songs.
moody ass album.
Highlights:
Crown of Love
In The Backseat
Me like slinky guitar sounds.
The best Bob Dylan album in the era of best Bob Dylan albums. Also makes me feel like a hobo train hopping across America in the 30's.
5/5
Its like Bill Evans left and right hands are being operated by separate brains. Insane playing all around. Some great improv happening all throughout. Bottle clinks and the applause breaks pull me into the night club jazz feel of the 50's. good stuff.
Highlights:
My Mans Gone Now
Jade Visions
Fun and sort of odd album all around. I really enjoyed the first half of this album, but it started to slog a bit toward the second half until the closing track. This album is at its best when its weird and energetic.
Highlights:
Fight Test
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt.1
In The Morning of Magicians
Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell
The songwriting in this album was great. There's a great mix of classic 70's singer song writer songs and some tasty ass jams. The dude had a weird way of singing sometimes but still thought it fit with the songs. Could see this album going up for me in the future.
There was not enough Sydney Sweeny in this episode of Euphoria.
Although the production is pretty darn good here, it sometimes sounds like they recorded this album in the echoed bowels of the sewers. And she had to whisper sing to keep the ghouls and goblins from finding her.
The only thing better than jazz, is groove based jazz. This album jammed hard.
At the age of 27, Morrissey discovered that women vary in both height and weight.
The Smiths always have this weird jittery sad energy in their songs, and for the most part I enjoy it. Usually have some pretty interesting melodies and this album is no different. Shoutout to Andy Rourke, the bass player, some really cool things happening there.
Highlights:
Frankly Mr. Shankly
Never had No One Ever
Cemetery Gates
Vicar in a Tutu
Has all the staples of boring 80's rock, chorus effects and cheap thin Van Halen copy cat lead tones. The first album I was actively annoyed while listening to.
I was so close to liking two songs, but they took them in a direction I didn't like.
Fun album. Honestly didn't get to listen as closely as I wanted so a re-listen is in order. But I enjoyed the high energy throughout.
Album was okay. this week has tired me of 80's punk. This had a weird thing going where the guitar was supper fuzzy and loud but the vocals were quiet, yet the vocals were still way in front of the mix. It's kind of jarring. But overall nothing really popped out at me but I could see the merit of what they were trying to do so that bumps it up a point.
Highlights:
Cut Dead
Its So Hard
Angular in a way I didn't love.
Massive highlight:
Mood For a Day
I like a lot of the instrumentation, but damn this was way too long. Not enough songs grabbed me.
Interested in giving this a re-listen at a later time.
I'm not gonna lie I went into this one thinking I was gonna hate on it, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. The lyrics are pretty awful, and the guitar playing leaves a lot to be desired.
But the absolute dawg of this album is the drummer. Larry Mullen Jr. is a beast throughout most of this album and kept it from being a boring mess.

You Be Illin made my day though.
Prince will always hold a special place in my heart. he influenced some of my favorite bands like Ween and Phish so I appreciate him. Fun Prince Album.
Really cool album. Moody but has a groove to it. The singer reminds me of Fiona Apple, which is awesome. Will probably have to revisit this down the line to gain more appreciation.
This one just made me want to listen to Thin Lizzy. But it did grow on me as it went. B-side was much better. The lead guitar work was fantastic throughout. Great tone.
