HawkwindAn album that needs no introduction, or an excuse to listen. This has been a part of my music life for over 40 years now. One of the greatest live albums ever released and a thrilling sonic adventure from start to finish

Surprised to find this as my first random choice. A singer like so many who I have 'heard of, but haven't heard anything by' I wasn't expecting the earth to move, but was really pleasantly surprised and will definitely be paying this more attention. I have also taken time to read up on Fiona and her terrible childhood experience, which makes this music all the more moving and powerful. A great start to my listening project and I will be buying a physical copy of this album ... probably before today is through ...
Day 2. An album I have been familiar with for over 40 years since I first heard it in 1981 (my 17th birthday) A transitional Stones album with a more British feel and Jagger and Richards really starting to develop as songwriters. A bold step to include a lengthy jam too. Some filler, but the Stones’ filler was always quality!
A familiar classic, energy, melody and intensity. A superb album. Also, at last, the source of a song with the correct spelling of my wife’s name; Ana. She loves the song too, which is a bonus
Today’s selection is entirely new to me. My knowledge and appreciation of jazz is fairly basic, but there is enough variation in styles within the genre on this album to keep the listener engaged for the duration. A pleasant and uplifting surprise - I really enjoyed this album a lot.
An album I listened to a lot in the late 1970s as a young teenager discovering The Beatles (and solo Beatles) It’s not one I revisit all that much, but it’s still a great album. The protests, rock and roll pastiches and digs at former Beatles colleagues are very much of the time; it’s the songs of love, philosophy and introspection that are timeless.
Another first time listen. I like the sound of these early 2000s thrashy punk albums. Perfectly good for a burst of energy whilst walking the dogs, but for me, nothing groundbreaking.
Another first time listen. From a great era at the start of a brilliant decade for music. Well constructed, produced, performed and worded. This is another on the ‘must investigate further’ list. Who knows what doors this may open. Can I kick it? Apparently, I can…

It’s a compliment to say that I used this album to help me sleep 20 years ago. Great for when the mood is right, but the mood has to be right.
Brash, brutal and probably about as an authentic sounding live album from Iggy in this period as you are likely to hear.
A classic, polished musicianship that makes it all sound so easy; Al’s delivery is emotional, spiritual, uplifting and also melancholy - love never ached quite like this. A fine album
No denying the quality and bombast on offer here. Not my cup of tea, although I completely accept their greatness.
A very new genre for me and yet evoking a perfectly tangible nostalgic vibe of me being 14 years old, which is how old I was in 1978
Infectious, dramatic and challenging. Another first time listen, and the first of many more
An all time classic. I wish my Dad was still around to know how much I have grown to appreciate this.
