The guitar is the main character here. Ozzy's doing a solid job on vocals but there were so many times I wanted him to be quiet and just let the guitar go off. Thankfully, there's plenty of those moments on the album.
Changes was a weird one to listen to, not because it's bad but because Eminem sampled it on Recovery and that song is bad.
I do think the first song was my favorite on the album.
I cannot imagine being passionate in any way about this album. It's not bad! I want to be clear I don't think it's bad. It's just forgettable. It's music that plays and doesn't offend sensibilities and is generally fun, but nothing that'll stick with you. Fun, forgettable music that I could listen to pretty much whenever, but I'd never actually choose to listen to it myself.
This album is honestly quite good. Bob Dylan is a really strong songwriter and knows how to make music catchy and striking. The harmonica rules.
This was an actively unpleasant listen. Lyrics intended to just sound silly and mean nothing, music that gives me a headache, and this entire vibe of "cheeky British" that I detest. I have nothing positive to say.
The album was pretty good for a live album but the actual music just wasn't my thing.
Jeff's pretty damn good at playing the instruments. It sucks that his voice is so grating.
The jazz was pretty solid, but between being a live album and half of the album being repeat songs, it got old fairly fast.
You can see where a lot of later 90s rock genres pulled from here. The guitars sound awesome, the songs are pretty catchy, and while they're not all perfect I really do appreciate this one.
The title track did the heavy lifting on this, but a solid blues record is a solid blues record. Nothing I'd come back to again, but never a bad time.
Ace of Spades is solid, the crowd noise makes for a good atmosphere, but between a lot of this blending together and sounding the same and the fact that live albums just don't seem like a great introduction to most bands, this one just wasn't really hitting.
Vol. 4 didn't impress me, but this one did. I completely understand why Black Sabbath became a big deal following this debut. The title track is moody and atmospheric and just sounds sinister in a way that you don't really get. The rest of the album doesn't strike as hard as the beginning, but it maintains really high quality.
This is an odd pick. It's extremely competently made music that doesn't really do anything especially memorable. It didn't get much commercial success, and while it's definitely critically acclaimed, I find it hard to latch onto any of it.
I mean, fine I guess? The music's not bad but the vocals are forgettable at best and obnoxious at worst. I don't see what about this is particularly notable.
This is not my genre of music at all but Willie is killing it. Great singing, great music, just real good.
I mean, better than Blur. I think Damon just isn't for me.
